Ullmark was a good not great starter in Buffalo for several years before going to Boston, outside of his Vezina season he's been basically the same goalie his whole career and I never really understood the thought that he was entirely propped up by Boston's D

RIP but shedding the Melnyk shackles was a godsend for the organization

Sens fans should probably wait until end of Jan before getting excited for the playoffs.
Why though? The Sens got a great goalie now. He’s the guy they needed. Similar to Jersey getting Markstrom. High tempo offensive minded teams that give up high danger chances sometimes because the risks they take for rush chances. Ulmark makes the big saves at key times. So does Marky. It breeds confidence in the players to keep up their high tempo.

Nah, I'll get excited now.

I don't watch sports in contemplative silence or with cautious optimism.

It's supposed to be fun...

Sens fans are rightly excited that it's almost January and the team isn't an embarrassing dumpster fire that's completely out of playoff contention
Totes.

I won’t believe it until it actually happens.

It’s been a long time.
It's OK @NyQuil. I know Pierre Dorrion and Eugene Melnyk hurt you but you need to learn to love again.

Love takes time and commitment.

What you're talking about is the idle flirtation stage which is fun but not necessarily long-lasting.

Holy crap, count me as someone who will wait until we actually lock in a spot before getting excited.
f*** that. I'm going to get excited each and every win.

This team is different then the last 7 years. We have a good mix of dmen that can play on both sides of the puck. Zub coming back will already improve that.

We have three legit star players including a top 10C and best power forward in the game.

And finally we have a goalie with an elite history playing great

Better management and coaching.

Call me a fool in love but this team is exciting and I am enjoying every minute we are in contention!

Said this summer that this was a ridiculous contract, that he wasn't an upgrade over Forsberg and that he would most likely end the season sub .900. Felt good about my prediction at the end of november when he was rocking the .890 and now he has turned it around completely. Gotta hand it to him. Hopefully it's not just a hot streak, Sens deserve a little something, you guys have suffered long enough.

Ullmark was a good get. They needed a goalie, no doubt about that.
David Perron has been a flop so far, though.
The Chychrun trade is arguably bad asset management, despite Jensen playing well right now.
I need to see how a few more moves shake out before I really pass any type of real judgement. Results are positive though.

He's probably what they needed. I would rather have him on his contract that starts next year than what they gave Korpisalo, who has had like one particularly good season in his career, which just so happened to come the year before they gave him that deal.

I still don't like the Travis Green hiring at all. I think he sucks as a head coach in the NHL, but I've applauded the Ullmark trade all along. Especially with dumping off Korpisalo's deal without even having to retain 90% of it lol.

Thx for the kind words.

I don't think it's simply a hot streak. He did an interview a couple of weeks ago where he said it takes some time to adjust to a new team, systems. Also, his getting injured so early in the season affected his learning his linemates tendancies, coordinating with them, learning the systems, etc.

I also realize that his recent play has been other worldly but is not sustainable. As a Sens fan, I'll be happy if he ends up playing his usual .905-.915% for the remainder of the season. We haven't had that type of consistent goaltending since Anderson.

No, the core is rotten to the core...there's a loser mentality there (similar to ~2014 Edmonton core) that Ullmark alone isn't enough to salvage. Still lots of work to be done.

Sens are top 10 in xG%, Corsi, and Fenwick. Not saying we’ve completely turned the corner or even a playoff team, but it’s not like Ullmark is bailing this team out every night.
