Confirmed with Link: Linus Karlsson signs 1 year ($775,000) contract extension

I’m surprise he is giving this another shot but good for him. Hope he has a breakthrough. There are some tools there.

He's getting a 1-way $775k deal - who is giving him more than that?

I thought he might go back to Sweden. He has spent 3 years in North America and has pretty much done everything he could at the AHL level with limited number of NHL games to show for it. He is at an age where if he does go back to Sweden he's never coming back so that might have been a motivating factor.

He was starting to look more effective even in limited minutes in his last stint and thought he should've been kept up with the big club. Hope he keeps it up and gets another shot at earning a permanent spot.

I thought he might try to find a bottom dweller that had an easier path to a top 12 spot. But glad to have him back as organizational depth.

Why would he make $150k in Sweden? If you can get any type of one-way NHL contract you do it imo.

hes doing as well as you can imagine in Abbotsford. like 50-60 goal pace. you have to take the chance that he's figuring something out.

I'm not questioning why he signed it. I'm also a bit surprised that we offered him a one-way contract.

But it isn't all about money. Plenty of Swedes who on the surface can earn more money playing in the AHL prefer to play in Sweden or elsewhere in Europe like Switzerland. Soderstrom almost certainly could have gotten more money staying in North America this season and he chose to return to Sweden.
