One of the things I've always enjoyed about the NHL is when line's actually earn names - whether The Production Line, Two Kids And A Goat, Legion Of Doom, The 700lb Line, The French Connection... but in recent years there's been a dearth of original names. Whether because of coaches often going with combos and line switching or free agency, etc.

I know it's early and they've only been together for half a season but I was wondering if Julien keeps Bergeron, Marchand and Pastrnak together I think they could easily earn themselves a 'name'. Has anything been floated out there?

- the only one I have is 'The 200'. An homage to the 300 Spartans defending against superior forces, that they are probably the best 200 foot line in hockey and that ideally, the three of them should be aiming to combine for 200 points a season going forward.

I'm sure a few of you have much better ideas but... that one has been rolling around my head for a bit.

Sadly line nicknames are a thing of the past and are not as prevalent as they once were.

I like 200 but someone is going to come up with something in this thread, I can feel it.

Ya, I miss them. Too often people just use acronyms from player's initials.
200 was stuck in my head - so couldn't even tell if it was good or bad anymore - but figured someone would come up with a few good ideas.

Part if now too is how many lines stay together for an extended period of time. I mean we had the merlot line a few years back, but the lines change so much that a name never gets a chance to stick.

Last year the Pens had the HBK line which was kind of funny.

Due to the nature of the league and free agency, you don't see guys stick around long enough to form a line for the long term.

Also, how hasn't the Merlot Line been mentioned yet?

If they stick together and finish the year playing as well as they are in terms of advanced stats I think people will have to start calling them

"The Corsi Line"

Does anyone still refer to Bergeron as 'The Count' - anymore?

'Counting Carbs With The Nose Face Killah' - would be the next diet book. (pasta = carbs)

To be fair the Legion of Doom only played together for three seasons (one of them shortened by the lockout). So as long as you make a big enough impact (which MBP already do), and someone comes up with something that sticks, it doesn't have to take long.

Also have to throw out a mention to the Kraut line, of course!
