Jimmy Stüd still injured? Thought it was minor.

Pacquette should be dropped for Jimmy's arrival or if he can't go, I would give Scrimmage # 3 MVP Chlapik his first game. But I am not DJ "Allergic to Skilled Offensive Players" Smith who seems to think square pegs can fill round holes with grit, hard work, and assignments. And Pacman is not showing much at this point - grit, workrate, or otherwise. He has value and can become an important contributor as warranted but now needs to watch the game from the pressbox and adjust his game for his next start.

As far as I'm concerned, after last game the whole 4th line can take a seat (if Stu is healthy).

Watson takes a lazy penalty to let the Jets back in the game. I'm starting to get late Sens tenure Zack Smith vibes with this guy.

Anisimov was bad yet again and was dismal in the OT. Get him out.

Paquette is a player I was actually looking forward to watching but he's been bad in all three games. He needs a wakeup call.

Let Gally, Chlappy and White battle it out for who gets to stay in next game. If all deserve to stay in, then so much the better.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Stu - Tierney - Dadonov
Paul - Chlapik - Brown
Galchenyuk - Stepan - White

Lines 3 and 4 get roughly equal ice time; deploy depending on matchups.

On D I'm OK with Reilly staying in. He played pretty well. I'd consider getting Wolanin in for Coburn. He wasn't terrible but he wasn't good and 36 year old D with a lot of hard miles need some days off.

Chabot - Gudbranson
Reilly - Zaitsev
Wolanin - Brown

Give the Hog a start to get him involved early in the season.

Funny how the two guys singled out as having a great camp keep rotating out for one another...

Was anyone really singled out as playing well ? I recall DJ getting asked "How is so and so playing" and DJ saying things like "good". To be honest I don't think I've herd him say a negative thing about anyone on the roster.

Well in fairness to Watson he did draw a holding penalty in the 3rd where the PP looked good. I haven't minded his play at all in the small sample we've seen from him.

Maybe that comparison to late Zack Smith was a tad unfair but I do get a bit of that vibe from him.

Those 3-4 line guys are easy targets for ref’s ... 1) they’re chasing the puck most of the time vs the other teams puck handlers 2) many like the PM minutes 3) they aren’t the super stars and don’t complain about fair treatment. 4) they spend a lot of time disrupting

I wouldn’t over think some cheap penalties from Pacquette or Watson as them being “stupid”.

I don't know either person but Paquette's penalties thus far have been stupid and Watson's key penalty last night was lazy.

Sit for a game and comeback hungry or GTFO.

I cannot get excited about the acquisition of Stefan, Paquette and Coburn. I would rather sign Duclair and run with two more prospects to help them develop though NHL experience. Hopefully those 3 plus Anisimov and Josh Brown will be gone by the TDL. I am also not convince Gudbranson should stay either.

At this point this has become one too many acquisitions. Each lone can easily have kne rookie like Formenton and Chlapik and they would probably do much better.

Edit : as for the defence, there will be more turnover and there aren't any long term contracts that we just acquired that will eat up top 4 minutes so it's not that bad. The offensive acquisitions leaves many question marks.

I think Stepan will be gone for sure. Paquette is a useful player in his role but he's looked uninterested thus far. If he doesn't buy in you have to think he's gone. I can see Coburn remaining if he appears interested in a short term deal.

I like Brown in his role.
