Best move by Lindy all year with the full practice this morning before the game. It won't last but if they are going to try a F him over he's going to give it back to them twice as hard!

The bug has been going through the team for a few weeks now. Odd how it's been affecting one or two players at a time. He sounded like he is fighting being sick btw. Said he had to turn his phone off yesterday to get rest.

Focus of morning skate was to win battles, go to the net, and skate well.

Breakouts and puck movement was very poor vs Seattle

Kulich has really played well at center. Defended well and broke up play. A huge step in the right direction.

TT is getting more shot opportunities at wing. 2 spg at center, 6-7 at wing. Sounds like he is staying there

He gets nervous during Bill's games. Picking Bills by 7.

And I thought that we did talk to Berube? And maybe he took himself out of the running here because he had heart eyes for the Toronto job?

It is pretty easy to see this as the worst team in conference.

We have no true top 6 centers. Young guys all over the place. Suspect defense and shaky goaltending.

I think a lot of us look at the roster and see all this potential and individual skill and think this team is more than what they are.

Look at Power. Everyone knows the potential and the name looks good on paper but this guy shouldn't be getting 20 plus minutes a night. He shouldn't be on the PK.

The holes in this line up are enormous

I won't put it all on Ruff! But the game has definitely passed him by.
Scotty Bowman in his prime would struggle however with this group.
Cozens totally forgot what made him successful. Tuch seems like he's out for himself now. Quinn is lost half the time.
First line looked great tonight. So a beginning 😉.
 
Feels like damage control the way Ruff shut down anything about the guys lack of response, and making it sound like they wanted to go after them. Doesn't want the media to run with it like Miller Lucic

I don't doubt thats how he wants them to be... but whether it's cowardice or just pure malaise, it's strong in this group

Lindy's gaslighting really rubbed me the wrong way. I get that he's trying to protect his group of young cake-eaters, but he betrayed his own ethics here. What's BULLSHIT?

"Didn't watch a replay until after the game" BULLSHIT, they watch challenge replays on the bench like the Zapruder film. You don't think upstairs cued the hit up?

"There was gonna be a time we were gonna even the score" BULLSHIT, no evening occured.

Noesen ejected? "Pick another guy, pick any guy then" BULLSHIT, no one else got touched.

The biggest problem for me is how they just went to the regular PP without Tage and tried to score (as if it matters to them). You have Zucker, you have Ras, Put tuch or Cozens in the Tage spot... No goal needed, go punish them for 5 minutes. They want to put Jack Hughes on the ice... okay!!!! Instead, they play fancy hockey to try to pad their pathetic stats like it means anything. Freaking respond!!! Go hit somebody. Make the rest of the game very uncomfortable with NJ. 5 minutes to punish and defend with the man advantage... so obvious to me. Quinn and JJ, you are sitting this one out, we are sending a message right now!!!

If your guys fail to respond, lead them!!!!

All that to say, as an isolated incident, I get it, a guy was trying to make a play and got a little wreckless... in this case, he had already taken some liberties, (Ras head hit and Zucker well after the goal... and the team had words for him in both instances). Now he takes out your leading goal scorer and nothing!!! This was a guy, trying to get his team up from being flat and playing disrespectfully all game. Cannot let that slide. There is context! Coach doesn't see a response on the ice and does nothing with the ensuing 5 minute power play with a two goal lead. Hit and defend.... heck, keep it clean too if you want. At least show that you care. Dump it in on the PP and go hit someone. simple

Or even just play the powerplay like it matters, put the energy into scoring and scoring and scoring to run away and embarrass the Devils. They wilted in the face of needing to elevate their intensity yet again.

I had the thought this morning over coffee that perhaps Ruff's recent relationships with the Devils as their HC had him thinking they shouldn't take it out on them, even if it was only a subconscious thought. But the lack of response is criminal. And now today, cancelling practice minutes before it was supposed to happen, pulling media availability of the players? WTF. "Oh hey, we need to pass around the psalms and prayer books, then make sure our stories about yesterday are all the same" or some bullshittery.

It's more than "a few guys made a mistake", Lance. Nothing got addressed. At all. Like, there was plenty of time left in the game to address the hit. No one did.....heck, from what I saw no one even ATTEMPTED.

The team is labelled "soft" due to a LONG history of crap like this. There is ZERO fight in this bunch....mentally or physically.
