Just as the Caps were aiming for Ovi to break the record, Sabres priority was getting Ruff to 600 first and foremost. Which makes missing the playoffs sting a lot less this year.

Seriously though, congrats to Lindy
600 wins is an incredible milestone but it’s not a good comparison to what Ovi is going for

As a Sabre fan, I have mixed emotions about this.

600 wins is quite an accomplishment, and at one time I admired Lindy but this should not have happened with this current team.

Seeing that a Lindy Ruff coached team is about to miss the playoffs again, for the 13th time in his past 20 seasons (yes, you read that right. He's only coached a team to the playoffs in 7 of his last 20 seasons), it is hard to feel celebratory about this, especially seeing how they are about to run him back next year to make it 14 out of the last 21.

Ya, my reaction is “he wouldn’t have if Pegula weren’t a cheapskate”. He was on his way outta the league were it not for a nonsense cash-in on nostalgia, and I think we’ve seen why this year. No discipline, no structure, no adjustments- congrats, or whatever. Shouldn’t be coaching at this point. Shouldn’t have been coaching at all this year.
