No interest in Buch. None. I'd rather have Rakell every time, especially since it sounds like a deal is close.

Lindholm and Rakel are both RFA ,both want a boat load of money, Nyr are paying less than 6 mil combined for both so no deal here . Rather just keep MacD and Buch.

Saying you'd rather have Rakell is fine but saying "No interest in Buch. None" is a ridiculous statement. Why exactly wouldn't you have interest in one of the better offensive prospects?

Ignoring cap, I'd already prefer Lindholm over McDonagh, with cap this trade is impossible.

Dunno they're both pretty damn solid defensively, Lindholm probably better, but McDonagh for sure has more offensive upside. My thought is he can bounce back into the rock solid all around defenseman he was, and I think I'd prefer to keep him especially on a sweetheart of a deal, and in addition, would prefer the high ceiling prospect in Buchnevich on an ELC over Rakell, who has less upside (although a solid player himself) but who also is a RFA as well. Makes no sense from a Ranger perspective

Lindholm will be as good as McDonagh shortly, if he isn't already.

Rakell is already a great young player, who will likely remain better than Buchnevich, who is still a complete unknown.

No way Anaheim would do this. Rangers probably wouldn't either. Trading your captain is a big decision.

Because it's at the expense of Rakell one of our better NHL forwards. Also, Anaheim needs proven forward talent. Buch may turn out to be great in the future, but that's not where things stand right now.

i have no idea why this is even a thing, except for Anaheim fans concern about cap situation

doesnt materially change either lineup

McD and Buch are at the top of NYR's untouchable list

Lindholm is cost controlled for more years then McDonagh and when McDonagh contract ends he will want a big raise. Buchnevich is a 21 year old Russian prospect we have not had good luck with Russians in our franchise history and if he isn't happy with the Ducks he could possibly bolt for Russia. Not interested.

I don't think the rakell/buch part has any point to this. Not saying that Lindholm for mcdonagh works, but it at least has some reasoning.

No way you trade Lindholm.

If this trade is cool then I'm gonna start a thread to figure out if we can get Trouba for Sekera.

The only thing is, I'm not sure Lindholm is ready for who he'd be partnered with. Nothing prepares you for that.

Difference is that Trouba is as good as Sekera. Mcdonagh is easily better than Lindholm.

Yeah McDonagh is better now but he's also 5 years older. Lindholm is 22 with potential through the roof he could easily end up as the better defensman within 2 seasons, maybe less. There are at most a handful of defensman with as much potential at such a young age, that's what you're trading for. Plus he's already great. Give me Lindholm now based on age, potential, size and as well as the ability he already possesses.

McDonagh is not easily better than Lindholm. I wouldn't even say that he is better than Lindholm, and Lindholm is 22. The only argument that could possibly be made is that Lindholm is probably going to make upwards of 6 mil, while McDonagh has a great contract ofor 4.3 million. And I would prefer Ravell to Buchnevich thanks

I can't agree on this.

McDonagh is one of the best players in the NHL at playing without the puck. He's not really a defensive defenseman since he routinely scores above 30 points, but pure play in his own zone, McDonagh is top 5 in the league in that category.

He is also an excellent skater, and decent enough offensively. He might be a top 10D in the league, certainly no worse than around top 15.

Lindholm is one of the best younger players in the NHL, but only the rare defenseman is an elite level NHL player after only a few seasons.
