Linden Vey

Linden Vey is nowhere near Mason Raymond (in Vancouver)

Mason Raymond hit 53 points in a single NHL season once & 45 points in another NHL season (course we have a player who has yet to go over 40 points given a extension to his current deal that will pay $5 million after this season....:naughty:)

Etem burrows and virtanen make him look better than he is.

Iam super critical of him because i think cracknell can be three times the player him dorsett or prust can be and its extremely frustrating to see it happen.

The play dies on his stick. Too short reach. Not fast enough. No board presence. Ok shot. Never gets to open ice. No stickhandling in traffic.

I am not even going to make a vey joke as i hope benning is as keen on the players he has provided desjardin as iam and hes ready to can him for green.

Greens utican reinforcements along with desjardins medicine hat bias being vanquished give me a lot of hope.

A chychurn/puliijvvari
johansen
Barrie
and lucic is all were missing.

Loving the potential but yea this season is painful with desjardin. Just play pedan and fedun, cracknell and virtanen. Its not hard.

It's interesting....when the 'Nucks traded for Vey, they claimed that he was a tricky and skilled player 'down low'....of course that might have been because he was playing with Tyler Tofoli and Tanner Pearson in the Kings organization....but have to admit in the last few games he has looked for more dangerous down low with Etem and Burrows....but sample size is still pretty small.

Shouldn't be a surprise. His numbers clearly show that at every level, he's taken a year to adjust then he's started to produce.

Getting 2nd line icetime essentially, he has 3 points in 12 games, a laughable 8 SOG, and wins 43% of his faceoffs. He still stinks.

3 goals in 28 games in the AHL.

Except the NHL it seems, where he's already played over 100 games and still isn't producing. Nor did he produce in the AHL this season where it was his 5th year of pro hockey.

Ultimately it's likely going to come down to him or Cracknell being waived when Sutter returns. If Willie has any say I think I know who'll be hitting the waiver wire. The last while Cracknell has been scratched as often as not while Vey has averaged nearly 17 minutes a night over the last 4-5 games. And since being called up he has averaged as much non-short handed ice time per game as guys like Horvat and Hansen have this season.

They're showcasing him so they can trade him. I hope we can get at least a 4th for him at this point. Now I'm not even opposed to keeping him and letting him work his magic with Etem and maybe Shink (MHT line) lol and see what he can do

The only way we get a 4th for Vey is if we include a 3rd the other way.

He has negative value - bad player on a bad contract. Zero chance he would get claimed on waivers.

Since Cap-Geek went down, more difficult to track contracts....but isn't Vey on an expiring contract this year and a UFA on July 1?

He's an AHL player on a one-way deal for $1 million. It expires at the end of the year, but it's a bad contract.

Vey had a good stretch in the middle of last season when the team was on a longish road trip. Then he faded and by the time of the end of the season was useless and sitting out.

Been better of late but I don't see enough to have any long term hopes.

But he is better than the beginning of the season where he a had dreadful camp and pre-season. I think he tried to bulk up in the off season and get stronger. In the end, it only seemed to make him slower and more ineffective. Maybe he is back to his natural playing weight and this might explain the uptick in play.

While Vey's contract isn't good in any stretch of the imagination but isn't bad enough to keep any time team from trading for him if they had interest in the player. An expiring 1 mill contract is easy to fit between now and the deadline. That said, I would doubt any team would be interested enough in the player from what he has shown in the NHL. Contract is the least of any concern.

Vey is the perfect 13th forward to fill and play as needed due to injury.
Which is 60-70 games/yr...

Versatile.. and is reliable defensively.

Had an extremely disappointing preseason... but has looked good in his call up.

Production is lacking from the depth of our roster... would be great to see him him develop to the next tier in that department.
Now if he can squeeze 30+ pt pace outta himself he'll become a regular somewhere.

Vey is that guy for me that you just want to see succeed. I really like the guy and hope he can work hard and carve out a career as a solid 3rd line 30-40 point centre. Would love to see him continue this solid play

So weird I like vey this year.
He's a lot less of a trainwrexk

I like him this year too. He's much less of a perimeter player this year. He actually goes to the boards and wins battles. Last year he would have lost the play that led to the Burrows goal.
When he came in last year the expectations were too high - to be a bonafide 2nd line center after a little development. He's a decent fill-in 3rd liner. He's not going to replace Horvat, McCann or Sutter but he's not a bad 13th forward with some offense who can fill in on the bottom 6 at centre or on wing.

I like him as well and at this point if we're playing the best players he should come ahead of Mccann.
Not saying that Mccann has less upside than Vey but that he needs a year in the AHL, he's not an elite talent that can step seamlessly from junior to the NHL.

I see Vey as helping transition McCann in. I think McCann has the skill now to play at this level. But he's only 19 and needs to continue to have success in order to build confidence. I think the strategy of giving him breaks is a good one - allows him to be playing at peak physical wellness...Vey allows this to happen. Cracknell is not a great third line option - Vey is better.

I'm really rooting for Linden Vey this season. I was fine with him being sent down because he did not earn a spot. I think right now desperation is setting in and he is playing his heart out. If he can carve out a career as a 3C or even positioned as a winger, I will be happy. I like that he is playing hard and is going to the areas that are hard to succeed in. It really is amazing how much better and harder the NHL is.

He is a borderline NHL player, I think he is a solid 13th Forward on a average team.
While his defensive work has improved, What I notice most is his willingness to fight along the boards, and still has a good touch in the offensive zone. Should imo have 5/6 points.

If our team wasn't so soft and small I would easily chose him over Cracks, but since it is there really is no place for him in our line up when we are icing a full team. I really think for Vey's sake it would have been better for him to stay in LA. Big team so there probably okay with icing him on thier3rd and 4th lines for increased offence, brings offence to their other wise offence dry bottom six, big forwards to recover him the puck, and he would be a very good possession player playing on an elite possession team
