Rumor: Lightning to sign Daniil Pylenkov

It looks like Daniil Pylenkov is going to come to Tampa.

Really? Is there news on that front? From what I hear he is a real "meat and potatoes" kind of defenseman. Not much flash in his game which seems to fit the bill for what we need. Solid puck mover and apparently decent potential on offense.

That’s the most recent and legit news that I could find on him (from a week ago). So nothing concrete as far as I can tell.

"They are waiting for me in Tampa. It's the best time to try myself in the NHL". Interview with Pylenkov.

Pylenkov indicates that he's okay with being sent to Syracuse.

It'll only be a one-year ELC, given his age.

This is great. I could very well see him earn himself a spot right out of camp.
Also, his mentality is great, he knows his worth and isn't scared to go to the AHL to prove he deserves the NHL. Looking forward to this!

Does this guy have any upside? Can he give Lily burger some competition?

I have to imagine the answer is yes. I would wager the KHL is *mostly* better than the AHL. That it's the hurdle of adapting to American culture that offsets Russian players more frequently than skill
The KHL is a pretty terrible league nowadays. To the point where Josh Leivo just broke the single season goal scoring record over there.

Maybe not the place to put this, but congratulations to Lokomotiv on winning the Gagarin Cup. I have loosely followed the KHL on and off for about 20 years and I said a prayer for the team, the city and fans after that plane crash that killed all but like 1 person on it. We couldn't bring the players back. But I could pray that maybe one day we could see the franchise go from darkness to the top of the mountain.

I haven't looked at KHL playoff progress for the last several days so this was a nice surprise to see
