Gotta wonder why we’d sign Brown to a NHL deal now (1 year, $775k according to PuckPedia). Do they want him on the roster now or just as backup in case of injury after the TDL / during the playoffs?

Also, when he was on an AHL contract with Syracuse could any other NHL team have signed him to a NHL contract or do the Lightning have to sign and trade him?

Brown isn't on our reserve list, so he'd be eligible to sign and play for TB in the regular season, but if we want him in the playoffs, he has to be signed before the NHL trade deadline.

Brown looked like a candidate to make this team before he got injured iirc. I could actually see him getting into some games, the guy can play. No idea what the immediate plan is but it's nice to see him in the mix.
