Post-Game Talk: Lightning @ Rangers 2/10/13 "The Adventures of Wade Richards and Rick Gomez"

I thought Step played a very strong game last night. He was hard on the puck, was winning draws and although straight ahead he's not a great skater he has a knack for getting on guys before they are ready. He brings alot of intangibles that are ignored on this board. He has a great IQ which helps alot out there and Torts definitely appreciates it.

Nice win. Perhaps we are back on track. POTG was Lundquist. We don't win anything if he doesn't stand on his head in the first period.

I wonder if Boyle ever get's back in the lineup barring an injury.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but Kreider made some very nice passing plays last night. The one from behind the net to Gabby was especially nice. Like Hags, those are the kind of set, simple plays the Rangers need to work on and he needs to keep making.

Kreider's passing game is also not something that I've seen discussed much, but I notice it more every game. I just looked at him as more of a pure shooter/sniper. He will be getting his share of assists as well. Good to see.

Not much to complain about last night. Very solid effort from just about everyone. I'd still like to see more from Richards though.

Hank bailed us out on some major 1st period breakdowns. And the powerplay is still a cruel and sick joke. Other than that, perfecto.

Might as well try some ridiculous PP combos. Nothing we have now works.

Our first PP actually looked very good. good puck movement, took some other good shots.

I think Gaborik was robbed on another one. Seems like they are addressing it...

It's the second unit that has looked the best. I think it was Kreider, Miller, Gabby, Staal and Stralman. Staal looked pretty good on the PP holding the puck, making plays and moving around and the two kids can get their passes off very quickly and cleanly.

Look at you calling Miller and Kreider kids...you must be old.

From the main board...

McD looks like he's planking.

dont know if it was mentioned anywhere else but i felt like nash and hags showed some chemistry yesterday

I'm curious as to why we had three defensemen getting off the ice at the same time.

I might be wrong but I think Girardi was sitting on the bench and then jumped on the ice and when the line change went horribly wrong he tried to get back to the bench fearing a too many men penalty.

Maybe. Our line changes are so bad that nobody knows what they should be doing.

Anyone remember that game where the Rangers were playing the Islanders and there were only 4 players on the ice for like a minute?

I forget if that was under Torts or Renney.
