News: Lightning GM Julien Brisebois says it’s ‘unlikely’ top prospect Isaac Howard signs with club

He won't have much playing time with the rangers. Should go to a team that can give him top 6 minutes. Canucks have lots of cap space and lots slots open in the top 6 to play him and make him rich. He should pick a team that will be good for his career.

Debrusk-Petersson-Howard
Garland-Chytil-Hoglander

He can very well play top line next to Pettersson and Debrusk.
For Van to get him he’d have to come cheap. What’s cheap?

The Islanders are in dire need of offense. They not only can offer him a guaranteed spot on the team but top line minutes.

Idk. He’s a tiny winger. If he’s Patrick Kane level, then wouldn’t the Lightning sign him?
Seems like it’s either he’s got his mind set on where he will sign or he’s just not a guy that will be a difference maker at the nhl level. The lightning are a very shrewd organization.
Caufield is also a tiny winger that Canucks didn't draft and went after a big hulking bust in Podkolzin only to trade him away for peanuts. Howard is someone that might want playing time and will choose a team that is not stacked, so he can have a easier career path of making the NHL team and being the go to guy. Canucks lack of scoring or elite forwards is something he would look at favourably.

Islanders still have better top 6 forwards compared to Canucks. Canucks will have gaping holes in the wing with Boeser gone and possibly Suter.

Willander for Howard
Howard needs to put pen to paper and sign with Canucks, before we trade Willander
But I think Canucks will have more leverage, since Howard said he won't sign with the Lightening and the Bolts will get a compensatory draft pick. I doubt they will get much if they traded his right, definitely not a top blue chip prospect.

so is this guy as good as fun sized Caufield? Does he have a team he will only sign with? Like I posted already. Tampa is a very smart organization. If he was really a difference maker they’d sign him. So he’s either got only one club he will sign with (ha ha ha it’s Van) or he’s just not that good. Pick.

This ^^^^
Not a “blue chip” prospect.

Remember how lightening traded Miller for only a 1st? I think Bolts will trade him simply because they can't sign him anymore.

He’s kind of a smallish winger who will be 22 next year. Is he really going to be a difference maker at the nhl level? Thst Tampa club sure seems to know if a guy is a playoff player.
He won the Hobey Baker Award which is given to the best player in college hockey. He’s a very good prospect. Doesn’t mean he’s a slam dunk same as any other prospect but lots of teams would love to have him.

Wasn’t Miller already an established NHLer though? This isn’t the same circumstance. Howard is going to be 22 next year. He’s a 180 pound winger. Tampa is smart. Either this guy has one team he’s headed for (nothing wrong with that.) or he’s just not good enough for Tampa. Pick.

Adam Gaudette won the Hoby Baker, didn’t he?
Sure some Baker winners end up top notch NHLers. But there’s a big difference between a guy who is 18 and guy who is coming 22.

He would be much better of with Montreal if they get a 2c and he lines up with 2c and Demidov.

Sure doesn’t. Tampa can trade him anywhere they want. If Howard doesn’t want to re-sign with that particular team, that’s not Tampa’s concern. Not like the kid has a NTC.
Yes they can trade him anywhere but the return won’t be anything of value if he won’t agree to sign now. So Tampa keeps him and takes a comp pick then.

In the last 11 years, 9 Hobey Baker award winners became NHLers. 6 of them became star players.

Gaudreau, Eichel, Makar, Caufield, Celebrini, Fantilli

I'm guessing Howard becomes a decent middle 6 player

Snd what kind of value does an unproven 180 pound, coming 22, winger have in trade who will only sign with his club of choice and is a UFA July 2026?
It’s not like he’s even some kind of proven player who is a one year rental. A team might trade for his rights, but they’re not giving up much.

He was a first round pick. Not sure about this rounding up his age thing. He turned 21 a month ago. He was 20 the entire college season.
