I’m hopping for Meier and Jack to start to click more. Jack is still a little rusty since he came back from injury. He looked better last game but still looks like his timing is off. Plus getting a new winger that is new to our system would take some games to develop chemistry with and Jack and Timo are both trying to hard to force things to work and or set eachother up and getting used to what each guy likes to do in the O zone.
We have one of the best assistant coaches in the league for working with the forwards so I’m confident they will figure it out .

He does somehow have 19 assists on the season though, so it's not like he's doing absolutely nothing on the ice. But good luck asking him to score anything but the occasional empty netter.

We really don't need to be playing Vanecek most of the games just because we got that sieve up and felt like sending Schmid back. Blackwood should NOT play at the expense of sending Schmid back. The Blackwood stuff really needs to die.

If you look at the schedule, three goalies really doesn’t make much sense. After this stretch, it lightens up quite a bit.

My plan would be to split back-to-backs the next couple. Let Schmid play in the AHL to get reps, and then bring Schmid one of the last few games of the season to get a final NHL rep in.

I would do:

Schmid tonight
Vanecek v. Florida
Schmid v. Tampa (goes down to AHL after)
Vanecek v. Minnesota
Vanecek v. Buffalo
Blackwood v. ottawa
Vanecek v. islanders
Vanecek v. Rangers
Blackwood v. Chicago
Vanecek v. Winnipeg

Then you re-evaluate and maybe bring Schmid back up in that last week or so.

He's had two prior 30+ game goal droughts before this. I think this is his fourth of at least 25 games now? Actually, I think it was a 38 game and then a 40+ game.

I think the longest was over 40 games, which went from last year into this year.

And he also went I think he went his first 38 games in the NHL without a goal? I used to have these numbers memorized haha.

But somehow he had 9 goals in a 56 game season. It was actually 52 games played for him.

I’m gettig pumped for tonight’s game.
Last game , as much as it sucked to lose , was a good learn experience for the kids. Closest thing they will get to playoff style practise and get warmed up for the playoffs .(along with the last game against the Hurricanes) .
I hope they learned and seen first hamd what happens when they let up at all. And learn that you can’t let anything bother you ( disallowed and short handed goal against ) and make you stray away from your gameplan.
We started off the last game dominating them but lost our way soon after the disallowed goal.
Tonight I expect to see them come out flying again and out chance them like they did last game.
Im predicting 2 goals for Meier and Jack gets back to his game where he was on fire before his injury.
If VV starts , I hope he can bounce back and show he can be a very good goalie when he is on his game.

Just need to capitalize on more than one chance early. We had them on the ropes early last game but hit two posts and had a goal disallowed. If one of those goes in, I think the game is completely different.

This is why it's good to have depth players who can credibly slot in when needed. If we hadn't traded for Lazar, we might be calling someone up from Utica right now.

Would definitely rather have Lazar - but itd be interesting to see how Foote would do coming in to a top playoff team where he can really focus on his role
