I somehow never even really registered how close he was to UFA. Felt like he signed that previous contract as a "forever deal".


Given his age though, this has gotta be a tricky one to figure out. Still right up there, but for how much longer?

Keep in mind Hedman still has a year left. This doesn't really affect the Stamkos stuff. It's not like we're gonna pocket the extra cap. We're gonna go get somebody.

Hedman's new deal won't be a lot more than he's getting now. And even if it is, it will be covered by the cap increase. This shouldn't have any bearing on Stamkos.
