That tv commercial reminded me of a story. My wife was in a NY hospital when we were dating a long time ago (1991-ish). I was in PA at graduate school. She told me her hospital roommate had a son who played for the Rangers. I was expecting it to be some scrub so I didn’t probe.

One night when we were on the phone she said “He’s here now. I told him you were a huge Ranger fan and he wants to say hello.” He grabs the phone and says “Hello Joe, this is Rod Gilbert, you have a great girl here!” He was retired at this point and she had no idea he was a HOF player.

She mentioned how charming and handsome he was, even for an older guy. She also got me his autograph. I’ll never forget that phone call.
