Common sense tells me the NHL teams could have issues going forward on the gray area of whether pushing players to play through injuries is abusive: either physically or mentally

Playing through being hurt as opposed to injured and teams and trainers pushing younger players to test that threshold.

That’s always been a part of hockey.

But now, in light of the sensitivity to abuse, what if a player deems it to be abusive.

They forced me to play through pain or the more likely, they ****ed with me head to get me to play,

‘Oh don’t be a mary’
‘Your a hockey player, your alright’

All this stuff is suddenly touchy if you have an overly sensitive player on your hands.
I agree with you up to your last sentence. The "overly-sensitive" part. Because that's just it, while you and I might think it's a crock of shit, society evolves and what is and is not acceptable evolves. The physicality of the sport has evolved (all sports). The way players expect to be treated has evolved. What coaches can get away with has evolved. So naturally, the way players handle being pushed to play through injuries is changing. So it's not really hypersensitivity or anything, even if you and I think it is, because it's the new normal and just because what it expected.

I mean it's already happened with head injuries. Guys were sent right back out after getting knocked unconscious. Then we find out that CTE is a thing and guys are dying. So that changes. High school and college football players, or f***, Korey Stringer, keel over and die because they're being asked to practice in unsafe conditions and do more than they can reasonsably handle. And 20 years ago if you spoke up, you were a p***y or not a team player or whatever. I played for guys that would punish you if you had to stop practicing because you cramped! It's all crazy when you look back at it. So a lot of the stuff that to you and I might look like it's being overly sensitive, I bet in 10 or 15 years our opinions will be viewed as brutish and ignorant.

Not a criticism of you, NB--I'm right there with you. It was incredibly hard for me to adapt to coaching youth sports because I started doing it how I was coached, and quickly learned that doesn't fly. The times they are a changin'. Someone cue up Dylan, please.

Larry can be a bit of a pain in the ass --- but that's also part of his job and how he's survived as long as he has.

On the issues where he's dug-in, he's stubborn and can be very...standoffish.

On other issues, he can be a very interesting conversation and someone who is deeply passionate about hockey.

He laughed at my joke about Yashin. He had mentioned the Yashin contract suspension issue and I said that JD should buy Lias a turtleneck.

I got a "ha" as a response.

I legitimately love Larry.

Can you imagine being personally reached out to by John freaking Davidson, hockey royalty, and not even caring to answer or call back? Career suicide.

At the beginning of the season I posted this in his thread:
I just want this guy to be a success so badly. Seems like a great kid.

I take it back. Rot in Sweden, you bum.

It’s like Kravtsov did his runner, got grilled by some of the fan base, and Lias did the “hold my beer” thing. Kravtsov is now loved again. Funny how the worm turns.

If Andersson is this much fun now, wait till its time to renew a contract...

...or go to arbitration and hard truths are on display for sake of negotiation.

Woof!
