He is just laying the groundwork to say how Davidson is dumb and made a bad pick so that when Eiserman scores some goals in NCAA next year he can continue saying how stupid it was.
Yeah I guess its one of those "I told you so" type of takes where the person waits 5 years to brag about how they were right and you were wrong, but when it doesn't come true, they completely ease it from their memory.

Kaprizov is elite fast.....and talented....don't think Demidov is in the same league speed wise.
Kaprizov is about as "elite fast" as Bedard.

This is a direct stat pull from the entire season and they are very similar with Bedard actually hitting a faster maximum speed of 22.73 mph vs. Kaprizov's 22.64 (essentially the same).

For context, McDavid hits over 24 mph, MacKinnon is similar with over 24 mph.

From all the tape I've seen, I would say Kaprizov is actually a very good comp for Demidov. Creative edgework and space creation in the offensive zone and attacks the net similarly.

I've heard Demidov compared to Nikita Kucherov. After watching that I would be pleased with Chicago taking him.

Kucherov (5´11 winger) played MHL in his draft year. Slipped to second round (58th overall) even that he had record breaking U18´s that spring (Russian factor played role there too). Played in MHL too his D+1 year and scored almost with same pace there that Demidov did this year. And eventually became the best player from that 2011 draft class.

Who knows how good Demidov will be but no one should question his potential. Sure there are some concerns around him (The Russian factor etc.) but with these young players who doesn´t? I think comparing Demidov to Kucherov is a bit stretch but Demidov has all the tools to become very effective player in NHL.

The guys on The Sick Podcast on YouTube this morning (Orspect Talj# 53) trashed Levshunov being raked in top 3von many lists...say heviscocer-rated...do not lije his decision-making...NOT t overly physical-nasty ...say his ceiling s a only 3-5 dman...

Say he got most of his points vs. Weaker teams in NCAA..
Compare hom to Zach Bogosian..

Will play in NHL but not goibg to star in a 2-2dman role.

For me lev is a risk and by far not the best D prospect in this draft. When I see lev I see at the best ceiling jones , ( a lower tier #1 D) Floor likely Bogosian minus the gristle, and most likely scenario = a ristolainien type.

His skating looks good and his hands and mind more importantly are on fast forward .

I've seen Demidov play probably 20 times in March and April with most of those viewings being in the playoffs. I haven't seen Levshunov play nearly as much - maybe 5 or 6 times.

My takeaways is Levshunov is at best a #3/#4. Demidov is a 1st line high scoring winger.

Demidov all the way. He and Bedard will make beautiful music together - especially if the 3rd guy on that line has great wheels and is a good puck retrieval guy like a Necas type.

If we spread out our talent , what about Slaggert with them ? Nice to hear what many of us are thinking .

I'm all for Demidov but I think he'll eventually will be driving his own line because like Bedard, he's best with the puck on his stick and creating.

Yeah maybe - both are at their best with the puck on their stick - and there's only one puck. On the other hand they both see the game at such a high level that they could have the "Sedin effect" where playing against the two of them is almost like playing against 3 guys. Or do what the Oilers do with 97 and 29 where they do both depending on how the game is going. Either way it should be very good and it's almost certain they would play together on PP#1.

His scoring plays from last year. Two of his goals were empty net, Lots of secondary assists. His shot doesn’t look that big to me by any stretch. These are his highlights

I think Lev will be a pretty good 2nd or 3rd Dman but I think people will complain about him in the same way they do about Seth. I just don't see #1 Dman upside with him. I also think a potential 1st line winger in Demidov is more valuable than a #2 Dman.

I feel like more people are switching to AL on there mock picks. there is another highlight I have seen a few times were he wrists it from the just inside the blue without to much pace and the goalie just whiffs on it. its a save 99% of the time. I hope he comes in under 6-2 and demidov is over 6' and 190. and has a great interview. if anybody has some video of him that makes him look like a cant miss project please post it. I dont think he is going to bad. would anybody be shocked if in 3-4 years he is the 5th best d in this draft behind Silanev, Yack, dickenson, Buim. pareyk? I would not be.

Exactly. Projecting what an 18 year old will be at 23 and getting it right is a lot of guess work and good fortune - so maybe he develops into a legit #1 d-man - but I don't see it now. I think he'll be good enough to have an NHL career but I think it's more likely he'll be a 4/5 guy than a 1/2 guy.

I think Dickenson shows more promise than Levshunov.

Well Levshunov willbexa vast inprivementvover Connor Murphy ...so there is that "value"..

A Certain Floor as the top guy on the 2nd pairing...Whether that is a#2orxa #3 Dman, not sure..

SEABROOK in his best days was a #2Dman...Lev can be that though he will not be pkaying with a #1D man as long as $9.5 is their manning 1RD for 6 more seasons.

So you may get a #2Dman playing as the top guy on 2nd pairing as the RD.

Lev's ceiling is a #2D... flooor a #3D ..If Vlasic a 2D on-stage pair with $9.5 ,best case is another 2D level value playing on2nd pairing.

Lev will be commander of the 2nd paring..zbut I don't he ever gets to top commaber/ekitecinpact gane changer that a 1D should be...

Lev,I see as a very good long distance poit shooter (like Seabrook) but only a secondary playmaker level of talent...not as creative as a top olaymakingbD like Makar...Lev not that dynamic in o-zone..Can transport puck up ice into o'-zone but once there will defer back to the point...not making plays at the net...

Lev does have good skating and 4-way mobility..
Will also be a trailer if axteam-mate takes puck into o-zone then firesi after a drop-back pass to him.

In short Lev=2nd fiddle not 1st fiddle...

This not i bad because Murphy is so awful....

The Lev comps I have seen suggested in articles are:
Petrangelo l Sergachev and Rasmus Dahlin...but I don not think any of tgse made it to top 16 best dmen in the league level..Neither will Lev...
Will Lev ever be the best dman on the Haws might beca better question...
As kingcas $9.5 aroubd hexwill get the designated #1D title and be 1st pairing top monutsx1RD..But Lev as 2RD might be tgex2nd best dman on the Hawks from a designation and pay level (on 2ndvcontract) valuation. After Seth is gone then maybeche can take over the #1D designation ..but still doubt he ever gets into top half of the best 32 dmen in the league. He may get to somewhere in top 17-50 best dmen i the league as his ceiling.. and 51-75v range of best dmen as a floor.

I really do not know where $9.5 ranks among brstcdmem in the league.. Sure hevokays lots of minutes.. but hecstill watches too many pucks flying into our net to put hom in thec32 best dmen in the NHL...I think you can find sone 3rd pair dnen on other teans you woukd take more than having hom on your team..that probably puts hom no better than about 80th .

I don't very much tgat takibg Kev at #2overalk produces anything that special that he becones "elite" grade.(top 16 best dmen in NHL)..

2ndc ier as a ceding (17-50th best) is a realistic ceiling range and 3rd tier 51-75a realistic floorxexoectation..When you get to 76+you are entering just a replaceable part territory ..
I hope hecis better than Seth Jones...
Thecthoughtvofcevervoayingv$9.5 for that again is too depressing to contemplate.

So if we pick Lev at #2I do notvknowcifcwe get enough value compared to alternate choices if they hit their ceilingsxas forwards or dmen.

Lev is a typical high floor lower ceiling and thus less risky pick..

However that high floor must be achieved ...Ifcheconly getscSethvKones level goalscorcpiubtsxandcis cobstantkyvubderxwater in plus /minuscas bad as Jones has been forcthe Hawks. That floor we expect will have caved in.

There is something wrong with you to have Eiserman ahead of Demidov. I'm usually pretty open minded, but that is crazy to me. Eiserman might be available at our 20th oa pick and I'd still be hesitant to select him depending on who is there.

Demidov is going to be a star player. I see him as such a smash at #2. Levshunov is more of a #2-3D and Demidov is a very likely top line winger/center (if he develops as a C). That's how I see it at-least

Levshunov: As far as comparables, it's pretty hard to do stylistically. Levshunov has an elite frame and elite footpacing. He has a strong stick defensively and is great at bringing physicality to the game. His skating overall is above average. I do worry a lot about his hockey IQ. Offensively, he doesn't make any big brain plays. He kind of just fires the puck towards the net with a strong wist shot or attempts a seam pass with his really strong passes. I use strong twice here because he is built and gets good use out of his strength to apply it appropriately. His compete can be questionable at times too. He will lack any sense of urgency from time to time and give up some high danger chances. The turn-over rate is also pretty high. He relies a ton on his strength to push the puck past traffic, but he will throw the puck into a lot of dangerous areas. This results in some really bad turnovers.

I worry a lot about the Hawks selecting him for some of the red flags I mentioned above, but also because Grant Mckegg, who is really close with scouts that monitor Levshunov, has him outside his top 10. I don't view Mckeggs rankings as the gospel, but it scares me that he knows Levshunov very well and has a ton of information on the guy. His hockey IQ and compete are some huge red flags I wouldn't gamble on.

Demidov: This kid was insane in his MHL season this year. I tracked a few games of his at the beginning of the season and saw a kid that controlled the puck with ease, made 1 too many moves (after being sent down), and ultimately turned the puckover too much because he was getting too fancy. It really seemed like being sent down annoyed him to the point where he felt too good for the league. I don't even blame him for the ridiculous situation. Near December he really started to get his game back. He was making incredibly crafty plays. Elite edgework, amazing vision, elite hands, and hockey IQ off the charts. You could tell his top speed improved as well. He started to really fly down the ice. Every game he had like 4-8 high danger chances. He was by far the best MHL player in the regular season. Then playoffs came and not only was he good there, he was terrific! The difference between MHL regular season and playoffs is quite dramatic. All of the KHL/VHL U20 talent got sent down to play for the MHL teams once they were no longer needed. Since the MHL is so top heavy, the semi-finals and finals are equivalent to playing the best CHL teams (maybe even better). Demidov was still hyper-efficient and created countless scoring chances. He led his team to win a championship, but unfortunately got injured the 2nd to last game.

There aren't really any concerns in his game. The one thing I heard was his top-speed, but he isn't slow either. He might not be too tall, but he is strong. Seldom do you see him get knocked over by opponents. I really hope we pick him

Levshunov: Questionable hockey IQ. Questionable compete
Demidov: High hockey IQ, High compete

It just boggles my mind there is any debate between the two.

Who is saying Levshunov has a questionable compete level? I haven't read that anywhere.
