Part of what happened in the trade war is that China started selling American treasuries, which was shocking the American bond market. The cost of lending in the USA would have jumped, triggering a very deep recession. For a lot of different reasons, USA needs to lower cost of borrowing.

So now there's a new 10% tariff on Canadian and Mexican products? And 125% on Chinese goods? Those are the US' 3 biggest trading partners. This 90 pause doesn't actually ease the burden at all for the majority of American trade. This is feeling increasingly like over-correction.

Then again, it could also be that nobody actually believes he is serious about tariffs anymore given he consistently keeps backing down.

The US Executive Branch should have known their balls were in China's hand and that China just wanted a good excuse to start squeezing.

So Trump told his followers to buy on the Stock Market before he released the news that he was pausing the new tariffs which caused the market to jump back up.

He's blatantly manipulating the market and using it to raise the portfolios of his people.
