everyone of them walked it back but China and their partners in Canada. Why is that?

Why? Because Liberation Day lasted 13 hours, THIRTEEN! Then everything was walked back and put on hold for 90 days. No reason to retaliate on something that was never in effect.

Canada wasn't hit by the Liberation Day tariffs and it wasn't a retaliation to that.

I am much more curious you tell us what we clearly are missing than whether not knowing it makes us clueless zombies about everything (something you are keeping to yourself? Sounds like something you should share..).

I've been asking people in the real world if they know
what's going on in Romania, or Bangladesh, etc.. and not 1 so far heard anything. That's not good and people that do know should be wondering why no one else does.

The past US gov going back decades has been a sham gov, that's why they did bad trade deals and that's why it's being corrected now.

This trade deal was negotiated and signed by the Trump administration. They made the bad trade deal and doing this isn't correcting anything at all. Especially since it's been coupled with continuous annexation threats.

I remember thinking that the Canada US Free Trade Agreement was barely different from NAFTA. There wasn't much of a point.

… and you’re about to share, right? or still no sharing? Will it be good or bad for NVidia?

The fact that no one in the real world that I've asked this question, knows the answer is the answer to what's happening if you think about. Why doesn't anyone know what's happening there and how massive it is. People don't want to hear the truth when it's really bad though.

I wouldn't worry about it. If anything is going wrong in Bangledesh, Romania, Somalia, China, South america, Jeffrey Epstein's Island or Santa's Workshop, a large majority of canadians will line up to send them their tax dollars. :sarcasm:

But seriously, am I f***ed if I'm holding USD right now? I didn't expect the 1.42-1.45 range to hold forever but I was kinda getting used to the USD I earn being worth a fortune.

NAFTA was a sham, and everything that followed as the government did not act on the best behalf of the American people, Millions of jobs sucked away, I wonder why.

Well that same government isn't going to suddenly do what's best on the behalf of the American people. Especially willingly putting the economy into a recession because of tariffs they are putting into effect on countries they negotiated a trade agreement with.

There will be people who benefit from all of this, but they are all in the administration and friends of the administration. It won't be the American people.

I mean he's already notified his people ahead of markets opening that he was pausing the new tariffs and the stock market would jump up and then publicly on video bragged about how many millions his friends in the room just made off of it.

I am (trying to think about.. it?) and no, sorry. I don’t understand your point at all. Are we still talking stock markets and trade vs tarrifs here?

if « why would T knowingly crash markets » is the question, it could be he misunderstands trade, or (gasp) is shorting the market repeatedly with insider knowledge… I mean there are infinite possibilities .. maybe it’s a negotiation tactic is to keep everyone guessing and scared.. Or wants lower rates for the debt but risks a recession… He is surrounded by yes-peeps and does play golf a lot maybe he thinks he’s rocking it and could not care less about stocks or inflation he’s a billionaire. Whatever it is respect and getting screwed is made up.

…3rd time: plz share your doomsday info, it sounds important

Spend them in Argentina or Venezuela you’ll be rich.

The food there is right up my alley, too. I looked a while ago using one of those 'cost of living' comparison sites and while it's quite a bit cheaper with the conversion, the cost to fly there and back + risk of getting stabbed whittles away a lot of the perceived value. Sometimes the urge for real churrascaria makes it tempting, though.

as for venezuela

think about it...

Ask yourself why the US says they want Canada, Greenland, Panama Cannel. If the only answer you can come up with is he's a bad man then it that says everything. I don't want to offend anyone but most people are clueless about everything, most people are asleep their entire lives, wake up go to work, go home watch tv or sports and repeat 5 times a week.

There is no doubt people are being told one thing while a very different thing is happening and they say nothing.

Well said. The reality is these issues are far more complex than the average person will ever read into or research in earnest. A talking point that sums the shit up, sells a narrative, and is parroted across every news network is good enough for people to talk about and pretend they're informed.

To talk about almost any of these issues with the average person you have to basically educate them on how the entire system works/came to be. And then after all that they're just gonna stick with their entrenched uninformed opinion anyways, it's wild but that's human nature.

I've always said people don't want to think, they want to feel. That's more true in this modern day than it ever has been and it extends to negative emotions and hate towards those they don't like.

The truth is like poetry, and most people ****ing hate poetry.

"well said"? he hasn't said anything except allude to some secret cosmic mystery that he won't share with any of us.

I wasn't talking about the mystery. I was talking about the masses of uninformed people who speak as though they know what they're talking about. Which I 100% agree with. Doesn't stop anyone from having intransigent opinions though.

I'm not saying that going to war on trade with the entire world at the same time was a bright move, that's pretty dumb. But the trade deals leading to the kind of trade deficits the US has seen is not great either. Attention needs to be paid to those types of issues as well, but its such a complex topic I don't claim to know how to handle it. That's why I leave it up to the internet experts on various internet forums to tell me their valuable opinions.

You're criticizing how people are thinking -- which is fine -- but you yourself are not elucidating any insights in your post.
