OT: Let's talk about Movies and TV Shows, Part XXX (...how can this possibly go wrong)

Unpopular opinion: Breaking Bad is far from the best series of all time (that's usually where it's ranked from what I see). I much preferred Sopranos, GoT or Succession.
Enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Succession but never finished it. Same with Yellowstone. Will have to go back to them.

A personal favorite is The Americans. No other show captured the Cold War as well as it did. So many tense and engrossing scenes.

Can't imagine starting to watch Succession and not finishing it lol

GoT was amazing for 4 seasons then it started going downhill fast when the dimwitted writers ran out of source material. Season 8 was a rushed pile of trash and single-handedly ruined the show's rewatchability for me.

Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Sopranos and The Wire (to name a few) are all vastly superior shows as a whole.

I also bailed on Succession after an episode or two. At this point in time there is just no amount of HBO production value, Sir Brian Cox swearing, or Cameron singing karaoke that can make me give a **** about the general subject. :dunno:

But I am genuinely glad that Jesse Armstrong found a global audience.

So I was walking outside and started being nostalgic. You know what I miss? Going to the video club, renting 5 movies and do a little a marathon while drinking cola and eating chips.

Ever since most things are on streaming it's weird how I don't have the instinct or desire to watch movies back to back anymore. I watch one and that's it. Or I watch three episodes of a TV series(which is the equivalent of a movie and a half).

There was something about going to a video club and looking at the variety of flicks and buying food as well. And then being excited about coming home and devouring it all.

Mike and Ike or the Hot Tamales... good thing I stopped doing that.

What I actually watch:

White lotus: just starting the new season... always a good take
The last of us: just waiting for more episodes before starting
Yellowjackets: Realy like "Lost"... Realy like it, I was worry about feminism but its not that much
The Studio: Its realy funny, I like Rogen stuff
Dune: Boff, ok, nothing
Daryl Dixon: Booooooooooring!
Wu tang Saga: Good stuff, its ok the end it after S3

My favorite one this year: Dark Matter

Waitinf for: Andor S2

I enjoyed early Yellowstone episodes but it became really bad with right wing narratives driving the story lines. Perhaps it was this way from the start but it was unbearable over the final seasons.....as well as the low IQ tropes that became way too prevalent.

Both the wife and I were huge fans of Lost and barely got through episode one of Yellowjackets.

Huge fan of the original TLOU game, but the choice of Bella Ramsey and the changes to Ellie as a character has made the show less appealling than the original story. It's still a good show, but I expected better and kinda loathe how HBO are dead set on using actors they know rather than actors who would better fit the characters.

Dune Prophecy was pretty good imo, and I'm not some big fan of the movies. Really strong cast and a nice exploration of the origins of the witchs's stronghold on the Empirium.
