OT: Let's talk about Movies and TV Shows, Part XXX (...how can this possibly go wrong)

I'm liking The Pitt, and i normally hate medical shows
It’s basically an ER remake. And ER was fantastic.

cobra kai final season: 8/10 good stupid fun

The Day of the Jackal 1st season: 8/10 good season with a great performance by Redmayne

say nothing: 8/10 good show

paradise season 1: 8/10 good season

American Primeval: 7.3/10 good mini-serie

Landman: 7/10 average 1st season and good performance by Billy Bob Thornton. Bad writing and bad hypersexsualization of his wife and under 18 daughter character.

Cobra Kai was great. Probably went on one season too long but that’s okay.

Just finished Mindhunter season 1 & 2. It’s unfortunate Netflix cancelled the show. I find these f***ing freaks fascinating.
Mindhunter was really good. 1st season much better than the 2nd in my opinion. A shame it got cut.

I can’t watch the lead actor without seeing Carey Elwes.

Let's talk about people that should be bigger stars. I feel like it's the case with Richard Madden(game of thrones). I have liked him in everything he did but does not seem to break through. I have watched a few series with him that were awesome and he was great in it: Klondike(about the US gold rush), Medici, and especially Body Guard. If the MCU ever relaunch he could play a good Tony Stark(in a more serious take) or Bruce Banner.

Just finished listening (audible when I'm working) to Inside the Mind of BTK by John Douglas, and some of the stories from the BSU used for Mindhunter comes from Douglas. He's one of the writers on the show and Holden's encephalitis is based on something similar that happened to Douglas. There's also a lot of stuff from his books that were borrowed by Thomas Harris for Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal. The Hannibal TV show also exagerated what happened to Douglas after his encephalitis and transposed it to Will Graham, where he could more easily imagine taking the victims's place or the killer's.

Season 2 ends with BTK, which is a bit weird as BTK got caught much later than the show's timeline and the show's hiatus might be on purpose because of that, to let the actors grow a bit older. Also, the BSU weren't involved in his capture. It was a Wichita investigator who finally nabbed him.

I just finished watching Noble House. For those not aware it's a miniseries (4 x 90 mins) adaptation of a James Clavell novel that is oh-so-slightly related to the most better known Shogun.

I'd really like to see a more modern adaptation of it (okay, a 2015 adaptation, not a 2025 adaptation). The show is absolutely dated. It looks and smells like late 80ies. All new plots have that 80ies fluff to it. Despite the fluff, if it wanted to show that Hong Kong was a totally bipolar city, it succeeded.

Not perfect by any stretch, but very interesting. So many things happen in a week. I like these financial/political hustles stories. Pacing is absolutely perfect. "This is Hong Kong" is abused. Stars Pierce Brosnan (who sometimes had a hi-pitched shrill that was really annoying that he got rid by the time he got casted as Bond) and a totally hammy John Rhys Davies.

Do you or did you blokes up there get a show called Good cop Bad cop? I ask because it is set rural Oregan or Washington, USA but it was made inland not far from the Gold Coast, Australia. The lead woman plays a detective and her partner is her weirdo geek brother and chief of police their father. He is one of the wardens from the Shawshank movie,he's different in this and is pretty funny. She is like the girl next door, kind of goofy but cute. All the actors are Aussie except the girl and her father and it's noticeable at times but still a fun show.

Is this taken from the OG Quebec-based movies?

Sorry mate, can't help you there as no idea what any of what you said is. What is OG and why Quebec? Can tell you though that that is not an area that attracts many tourists.

He got confused with a famous quebec movie called Bon cop Bad cop, which has nothing to do with Good Cop Bad Cop

Well Quebec city has many tourists. I know because I live there and I used to work in tourism in my 20s. I did it for the chicks.

Now there was a pretty popular movie in Quebec named Bon Cop/Bad Cop. It was pretty clever and heart warming. It's an action comedy and sort of talk about the two solitudes in Canada where there is an english cop from Toronto having to work with a Quebecois. Toronto guy is a by the book serious guy and the Quebecois is a Martin Riggs-type messy rebel cop. And the Quebecois starts dating the other guy's sister. They have to work a case together which leads to hilarious situations. Movie starts where they find a body where half of it is in Ontario and half of it is in Quebec. That is why they have to work together cause they both have rights to handle the case.

Crikey! What is going on with you blokes? First, I get asked something I know nothing about from someone and I respond as is proper etiquette, some still have manners and class in this day ya know, and the rest are filth. Then someone that I assume is their bedmate answering for them when that other one didn't respond when I ask for more details to what was inquired about in the first place. And now bringing up tourism in Quebec city of all places when that has nothing to do with anything at all, it's all a bit bonkers round here isn't it.lol

Context, my good man. You were wondering what that movie was about. Other fella thought it had a connection to the Quebec-made movie with similar name. You were were wondering what's with Quebec thing. So I told you. Who knows maybe it has a connection because there has been MANY Quebec-made movies and TV show that have been adapted all over the World.

Also I told you all this cause as a Quebec man, I like to talk about my neck of wood.

So bow to my culture.

The only bowing I do is when I'm hurling my guts out in the dunny.lol

Unpopular opinion: Breaking Bad is far from the best series of all time (that's usually where it's ranked from what I see). I much preferred Sopranos, GoT or Succession.
