I don't know how they do it but The Affair's season finale that aired last evening, delivered once again.
It was longer than usual at 1h20m. It was broken down in three segments, each from the perspective of 3 characters. And it hit all the right chords.
Helen is a giant, she gets it from all sides but still stands. She's beautiful, both in and out -- and even when she loves for the wrong reasons, there is something endearing about her, but also something to admire in her. I don't want to say more, as spoiler repellency oblige.
They played this, to close the season:
The opening lyrics of the song, couldn't offer a more absolute dichotomy.
And it came to me then
That every plan
Is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes
In the ICU
That reeked of piss and 409
"409" as I found out, is not another form of "420", but an all-purpose home and industrial cleaner.
Father time, or God, the one that is being prayed to. And then the reality of piss and 409.
I know GoodKiwi will kill me for this but ... I'm happy there is a Season 5. With the quality of writing on this show and the superb acting, there will be more magic moments to lose ourselves into.
