So as of this morning we have:
Stars up 3-2 on Jets. Jets have home ice advantage if they make it to game 7
Panthers up 3-2 on Leafs. Leafs have home ice advantage if they make it to game 7
Who wins, and in how many games? Let's see who will score 100%.
Let me start by giving my own thoughts:
Leafs vs Panthers
This one seems.....obvious to anyone following. Panthers back to back finalists, and defending champs, with a ton of playoffs mojo. Leafs - perenial underachievers and even chokers in playoffs - who gave up a 2-0 series lead, and instead of coming out strong, came out completely flat in game 5, losing 6-0. Unless you believe in hollywood scenarios, this one seems very clear cut, that Leafs are going to continue on their downwards spiral and lose, and Panthers win easy in 6.
Good thing I like hollywood scenarios. I say Leafs win a very close game 6 - and then win easily game 7. I've been saying I have Leafs/Oilers going to finals, and I'll stick to it. Leafs in 7
Jets vs Stars
I don't like the Jets. In comparison, I've really enjoyed Rantanen's run so far. Stars going back home, this one seems simple to me that it should be stars in 6. I will say though this Jets team has shown surprisingly resiliency. After all the horrible goals by Helle in round 1, who was confident Jets would beat Blues going into game 7? Even worst - late in game 7 with ~2mins to go, and Jets showing close to 0 emotion and energy and down 2 goals, how in the world could anyone have predicted Jets come back? But they scored 2 late goals, and came out flying in OT, and Helle was great in OT and they won.
In round 2....same idea. Stars win game 1, Rantanen with 3 points again...this seems like the Rantanen show and it'll end fast. Nope - Jets win game two 4-0 - maybe we'll have a series after all. But stars win next two games....so same thing for game 5, I tought Stars would win and move on....but somehow Jets again win 4-0. That's 3x so far in these playoffs I counted them out and they came roaring back. All that to say - I could see Jets extend an extra game to game 7....but in game 7, Rantanen steps up to make his run even more magical with a game winner, and Stars win in 7.
So - let's see who can score 100% in these predictions with anywhere from 2 to 6 total games left in round 2. I have:
