No idea why, but this thread made me think of former Rangers great, the scorpion, Mr Jason Muzzatti!

RIP

But to stay on topic, I was always a fan of Freddy Sjostrom and was very excited when we got him. I was at a game with my wife when he scored and I jumped out of my seat so fast that I elbowed her in the head. Then instead of checking on her, I high fived other fans... good times.

Jan Hlavac.

I remember when they traded for his rights during the draft party at MSG one year and JD tried to pronounce his name. That is seared into my memory forever. Jan AYCH -lah-VOCK

wanted to drop a John Sterling memory here -

early '70's (HS for me) the WHA launched,
they put a team IN THE GARDEN - the New York Raiders
(NHL journeyman C Ron Ward became their superstar scorer)

Younger-ish John Sterling got the radio gig,
the games were on WMCA ~530 AM all the way to the left of the AM dial

When Raiders scored he would go "Raider goal! Raider goal! Raider goal!"
he then used similar call w Isles a few seasons later

Had a bunch of highlights videos of playoff games show up on Twitter recently. For some unknown reason it made me remember Jeff Toms, and that epic game where he filled in on the FLY Line and scored a hatty and we beat Boston. I think he broke his face that game, too.

Same era, Jason Doig. Went to a Caps game with a buddy who is no longer with us, and every time Doig (who was a Cap then) did anything, he'd use a perfect Butthead voice and go "Heheheh, Doioioioioig." Made me laugh.

Brandon Prust was the key player in the trade not Olli Jokinen who was awful.

Was a fan of Todd Harvey when he was here and sadly didn't work out and too injury prone but played with heart

Bryce Lampman hyped up wasnt given a real chance, and never really made a name for himself like Ryan Graves did. Daniel Goneau looked promising and didn't go anywhere in the NHL

I liked Fedotenko when he was here. Ronald Petrovisky was underrated here.

Remember the wonderful Eric Christensen, Brent Fedyk, Sean Pronger, Tim Kennedy, Jeff Tom's, Steve McKenna Christian Dube.Dave Karpa Jason Doig Igor Ulanov Petr Smerk Rich Pilom
