Doubt it. He fought hard to get that NMC last contract. He wants to retire a Pen and be in the same convo as 87/71.

On top of that, there's nothing really for him to chase at this point and he's on the downswing of his career. He'll retire a Pen whether the fans like it or not.

What I guess I meant to say is there's a different between being in the correct position and not being able to execute bc of diminished physical ability (Scuderi) vs not understanding what the correct position is in the 1st place (Letang the past couple years.)

Sensitive to this bc I'm going to be 47 and I still play in a roller hockey league. I know where I need to be, but my legs don't take me there as quickly as they did even 2-3 seasons ago. And I'm a guy who never was the fastest player in the 1st place.

Letang's trade value is probably very low at this point. I think he is more likely to be LTIR-retired in a year or two than playing for another team.

I'd rather just keep him and test his heart with 28+ minutes/game while tanking. Add some big numbers to his career stats. His game fell off the cliff from his prime which should come as no surprise given his playing style and age.
