Guys on one-year deals are probably hoping to get more again next year when the cap goes up.
Yep, this was predicted over the last few days that it would be a slew of 1 year deals to capitalize next year when the flat cap is behind us

Which helps us perfectly because 1-year deals are best for us right now regardless of flat cap or no. With how much we expect our internal budget to go up next year, throwing additional long-term deals out now will just make things more difficult next offseason.

Kind of the perfect storm for us.

Exactly, and with guys like Tarasenko and Duchene on the market, we are primed to make a big improvement for next year, possibly 2 given we keep saving money with these extensions

And that will be where????

Who knows, but I am confident some NHL team doesn’t have a good prospect in the AHL and their team would be open to Kochetkov.

Could even be Chicago!

Wasn't Kooch a huge fan favorite in Chicago? Wouldn't the Wolves be bending over backwards to get him back on loan, even though they know he'd be going back and forth as needed?

One more tidbit I haven't seen on this board, but Svech Can Go LTIR giving the Canes another 7.75 Million to play with to start the season and run at least through December.
