He was -2 last night...ouch.

Yes.

We know you have strong opinions on games you didn't watch.

Here's Craig Button talking about how incredible the Oilers defense has been with
Stuart Skinner laying an alltime classic stinker.

Expected goals was under 4, and Skinner somehow let 6 by him.

I wouldn't say Skinner had a bad game. He let in 6 sure, but I don't think any were egregious.

Goal 1 was a breakaway shot placed just between the pad and blocker.

Goal 2 was a kicked in goal that trickled fivehole.

Goal 3 was a fluke rebound bounce off Emberson then off Skinner's shoulder in.

Goal 4 was a completely wide open cross seam chance. Don't know what the forwards were doing there.

Goal 5 was a shot from behind the goal line off Skinner's head and in.

Goal 6 was a wide open shot from the slot, Skinner screened by his own player.

Comple of fluke goals, couple of disaster defensive breakdowns. Team had an off night. In the previous 6 starts Skinner is like 5-1 with a .950 s%. Hes playing well.

He is 7th best in +/- in the whole league...thanks for your great assist while trying to down play a player and showing instead everybody you don't follow hockey ;-)

Only two player in the Top10 in scoring are in the Top10 in +/-.

He is having an MVP season in all important metrics...Goals, Points, EV Goals, GWG, Faceoffs, xGoals, advanced stats, etc. his defensive game has been awesome too.

The only one in his universe statwise is Kaprizov, he is having a MVP season himself... everybody else is/are a league below atm...but the season is still young.

Have you even watched the game and what are you trying to say?
Drai played good, even better than McD which applies to most of the games this year.
I am also sure he wasn't on the ice for so many goals this year as in this one...and I didn't see any failure defensively in this one...just poor goaltending/defense when I look at the Reinhart goal.

So what is the context of your post?
It's like saying something and don't know why or for what it is...Drai is carrying the team this year...I think McD will follow come playoff time (hopefully)
I watched the game and liked it (which I mentioned), Drai played well. As I posted before (double-headed monster), Drai has lots of points shared with McD this season, 28 out of 47 which is 60%. In context of MVP it should be accounted for, thats all.

Is 1.5 PPG at $14m (and the top all-time cap hit at time of signing) all it buys nowadays?

Like of course, he's a top forward in the League but he's not currently (and IIRC hasn't been) top in points this year yet, and he's not even top-10 in assists.

Inflation really is crazy.
I mean, you say he is not top-10 in assists but omit he is 1st in the NHL in goals. He is having a great year. Definitely worth his pay.

That's more of an "add him to the rest of the pile of players who got close and ended up never winning" comment than you think... the exception is not the rule.

They also conveniently forget that Skinner had to be pulled for a couple games in the second round because he was costing the Oilers the series against the Canucks...and came very, very close to costing the Oilers game 7 of that series as well.

Oh, and that Stu had the worst numbers of any modern goalie to make it to the SCF...

If you really want to be entertained, post that on HF Oilers and enjoy all the mental gymnastics you'll inevitably see from his flat-earther-level apologists...

Too bad he's played way more than 6 games this season and has been much more bad than good.

Also, funny how he looks so good when the Oilers are playing incredible defense...yet lets in 6 shots when only facing four high danger chances.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for criticisms here.

For most of this season the Oilers have played really well defensively. Any quality goalie would have at least a .905-.910 save percentage overall this season. Cam Talbot is on the Red Wings and has a 2.69 GAA and .916 save percentage. It even took the Oilers winning 24 out or 27 games to boost his save percentage to .900 last season. Skinner was also lousy for a lot of the playoffs and people just keep making excuses for this guy. I never ever feel confident when he is in net. Every lead is a risk for being blown and any shot has a chance of going in at key times when he is in net.

The amount of Oiler goalies I have had this feeling with in the last 15 years... Is way too many.
I really haven't been a fan of most of the Oiler goalies since Roloson. Before last season the Oilers were pretty much horrendous defensively compared to now so they also didn't have a great opportunity to succeed either. The Oilers are not perfect defensively but a starting goalie on the Oilers should still be better then what Skinner has been in my opinion.

Goal 4 was the Oilers reacting to a Panther player abusing Jeff Skinner near the benches instead of completing a line change. When those players were done being distracted they decided to finish the line change with 3 Panthers already heading up ice at full speed with the puck. The players/goalie left on the ice were sitting ducks.
