Pickard > Skinner
said this dating back to last season. He’s just much more consistent and his rebound control is excellent. Skinner can be that but as we all know is so streaky. I’ve lost count how many goals he’s given up already early on from easy shots that have resulted in goals from being unable to control a rebound. The problem is I don’t think Pikard could handle a starter role and the workload but he’s certainly better than skinner more often.

This is honestly my favorite oilers meme of all time. Somebody needs to gift a massive framed copy of this to the man himself.

People mentioned how huge it is getting some legs in lineup. Philps was solid I thought. Cags was critical on one of the goals getting a good shot off setting up the rebound.

Perry too benefits from having some legs around. That way he doesn't have to skate for pucks as much and others can stretch to corners and leave Perry where he should be around net. Sublime goal by Perry, goal scorers goal, and he had another one but wanted to give Philps a goal instead. Nice touch by Perry tonight. Didn't work out but respect your game today.

Re: Perry, you said it bro. The man never had good feet, and they're worse than ever, but sweet baby Jesus, his hands are still magnificent.

Not sure why people thinks Skinners highs can be so high, they are average at best. He can’t move.

He really has people fooled.

His lateral mobility, and agility are probably the worst in the league for "starting" goaltenders.

That could be fine if he was a consistent wall on shots he was set for and facing, but for long stretches at a time he is basically rice paper. He gets beat clean from distance WAY more often than is acceptable.

Podz looking like he was praying for forgiveness in the box after his fight was also gold.

Big game Sunday now, need to show they are the better team in the Pacific.
I was afraid he broke a bone in his hand by that way he was clenching them. Hopefully he was just a bit shocked by the blood.

Calling it now that Janmark-Philp-Brown could be this year's Janmark-Henrique-Brown when playoffs roll around. Philp's youth and skating just seems like a better fit with those two than Henrique who I think will be a valuable complementary piece, but he just doesn't have the skating anymore to carry a line. I'd honestly consider moving RNH back to centre and running Henrique on his wing. He had some good moments in that role as a scoring winger last year. Just not sure the foot speed is there anymore to be the shutdown 2-way 3C, but he can be a good 2-way winger that can still score if you get him the puck in the danger areas.
Hahahahahaaa! It starts...

This fanbase's obsession with prospects (along with speed and rush offense) never ceases to amaze me.

This third line is good without additions, we don't need a lot of offense from every line, their job is to get in the zone, stay there, pressure the defense and maybe get a greasy goal or two, not to mention Henrique is no slouch at putting it in the net.

We should start talking about replacing Nuge at this point before starting to cast the spotlight at anyone without plus skating speed.

How is it 'good'? The trio of Janmark,Henrique, Brown have a combined goal total of 2 after 11 games and all are minus players with league worst PK.
At this point neither of the 3 are much of an upgrade over Derek Ryan.

Philp proved he was NHL ready at the camp and his waivers status was the only reason he was sent down.

Forget size and scoring, Philp could stay up here for his faceoffs alone.

Also, good luck with your replacing Nuge dream with his NMC, McD being out and a letter on his chest. He also have 5pts in his last 7GP.

I dedicate this game to my dog Leo, who was named after Leon Draisaitl. And, coincidentally, I didn't realize until a week ago that his birthday is just days away from Drat's! (Oct. 23 vs Oct. 27)!!!!

The thing is we still have one of the best centres in the league in as a top line center. Our top 6 is still insane without McDavid just a matter of time before they all get going.
And Kane will be coming back early in 2025 apparently. The lineup is going to be really deep when he comes back, will make for some interesting line combos especially if Podklozin establishes himself on the Drai line although I think he needs to pot some goals to stick even though he does a lot of good without scoring so not sure how long he'll last up there if he's not scoring. Regardless...

Kane-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
RNH-Henrique-Skinner
Perry-Philp-Brown

Janmark, Ryan

Deep group, arguably the best center and right wing depth in the league.

If a healthy Kane plays anywhere close to how good he played in 2022 that will be a massive, massive addition.

That's a high bar to get to, but just close to that is still amazing.

I have out of town guests over. Missed entire game plus we were trick or treating. Sounds like a good game.

Oilers are 5-0-1 with .900+ goaltending.

Some people really f***ing lose their shit when they hear a goalie is born around the Edmonton area, like it's such a ridiculous selling point for any athlete.

Yes, Grant Fuhr once upon a time was from Spruce Grove. Like stop comparing/automatically assuming the next great Oiler goalie is likely to be the same.

Skinner has been largely a disappointment after his rookie season where he was playing with zero pressure (Campbell was screwing up so anything Stu did by comparison was auto-praise).

23 playoffs were poor, 23-24 regular season was statistically meh despite the team winning like 500 games in a row and suppressing high danger chances like crazy, 24 playoffs were statistically again below average start of 24-25 season is again ... bad. His GSAA always seems to be stuck in the toilet too.

Still a garbage defence behind them. Need to address that.

Also I know a lot of people shit on Drake Caggiula, but I'm pulling for the guy. I always liked him during his first stint here.

Looked miles better than geriatric Ryan. Love Ryan, but he’s cooked. Perry seems to still have it though.

I really hope they don't fall into the traditional "nice guy" trap with Ryan. "Can't send him down because he has a family! blah blah blah."

If he isn't cutting it, he isn't cutting it. Send him down if he's been surpassed.
