Player Discussion Leo Carlsson

Once Zib shits the bed.. Calrsson steps up.. Book it.

In his defense, he has been playing very well since Jan. Leo is 20 yo has not really taken off yet , so it’s no shocker.

Sweden is going to get their ass kicked , especially by USA and Canada who are stacked. So I expect Leo to draw in at least one game.

Will be the 13th forward, so really won’t matter. At least his last Ducks game he was a big part in getting them to .500

Dude should have just stayed in Anaheim and maybe hit the gym or something…

I read that Sweden's coach loves Leo so honestly, even if he doesn't play much I think it will boost his confidence to be with a coach that values him so highly and to be around really high-skilled players

Really couldn't hurt to practice with that much co-Swedish talent. Should be inspiring for Leo to see how his countrymen who excel at the game approach practice and real time play.

I'd hope he could get at least one game in, but this tournament still has a potential benefit if he doesn't. Plus fewer games means less injury risk anyway so f*** it.

If he can comeback, and not do the head jerk poor me that didn’t go my way pout. That’s a huge win for us all

I don't get your hang up on this... Even seasoned vets react like that all the time.
No, they really don’t. They may at rare times. But not at a 100% hit rate. It’s just poor body language, he needs to snap back and get into position instead of taking himself out of the play both mentally and physically when he does this. Hockey is a very fast sport. In that instant where he pouts, instead of following up his shot/poor pass. That’s enough time to abandon the play completely+ leave yourself caught behind the play to boot

They absolutely do when they’re snakebitten. Vatrano was doing it at the start of the year when he wasn’t scoring.

I think Leo has really, really high expectations for himself which is great. With that said, imo his body language isn’t always great, and I wouldn’t characterize some of it as just being the same as any old player. I’d say he’s more emotive than the average player when things aren’t going well, but I don’t necessarily see that as an exclusively negative thing. He’s also just young. If he’s still doing this in 5 years, it’ll be pretty annoying.

Being in the spotlight. You want to show you care and are pissed off. Usually vatrano waits until going back to the bench and slams his stick, why don’t I mind that? Because he’s off the ice and at the bench. Carlsson is still in the play and instead of following up, he takes himself out of the play entirely with his body language. It is what it is. I’m just very surprised he’s still allowed to do this ( or maybe he’s told not too but it’s still to fresh of a natural reaction that will take time to remedy?)
