You think it will probably be a multi-partner group, kind of like the group bought in to the Steelers when the Rooney's had to divest their stake in extended family casinos and race tracks?
Basically a group of rich guys that just want a stake in a Pro team and all the perks that go with it?

That's my assumption but who knows.

This really is the perfect time to sell. the team is expected to get up to an 800 million dollar bid. The CEC is fairly new, the sell outs are solid, and Crosby and Malkin are in their primes. some rich guys will want the chance to have a shot at a Stanley cup.

i think the draw is going to be the development rights to the land the Pens got in the arena deal. At least that is what reports are speculating .

I wonder if they're having issues with what they were trying to do with that land?

Like is the Hill district fighting anything they were trying push.

MOD NOTICE:

If I see the word "Nutting" being posted in this thread, it better be something like:

"This just in, Nutting is not buying a stake in the Penguins."
"This just in, Nutting bought Burkle's share of the Penguins."
"This just in, Nutting expressed an interest / no interest in ownership of the Penguins."
"Nutting follows the NHL religiously and said ____ about the Penguins."

See what I did there? It's all about Nutting except really it's not -- it's all about the Penguins. ;)

Anything to do with how cheap or not cheap he is as a pirates owner, things he did wrong as a pirates owner, things he did right as a pirates owner, things he would do better than the Cubs' owner (virtually everything I'm guessing), how much he loves the smell of fresh clipped grass in the morning or the pop of a fastball hitting a catcher's mit, or how much he loves Yogi-isms, or how he wants to reintroduce anabolic steroids in the game, is going to get deleted. Cuz the future ain't like it used to be.

Can I use Nutting as a name not a word? like Im pretty sure Pirates Owner Bob Nutting hasn't been officially tied to the Pens in any way, shape, or form?

With the upcoming expansion Mario might want to keep a bigger share than he previously thought. I mean, that's gonna be lots of cash coming in so maybe he'll sell some than some more after the expansion dough comes in.

So how will this sale impact the fans and the team? Higher ticket prices? Lower payroll? New front office execs?

imo hope for a buyer that is a rich person looking for a trophy asset with a property development deal sweetener and not a property developer looking to the hockey team to break even while making bank on redevelopment

I'd think that if they were concerned about the new owner being cheap they wouldn't have made the moves they did this summer.
