Leiweke probably did think that. However, unlike what AEG used to do...make the decisions for the GM...he allowed Lombardi to make the call.

The one thing that Leiweke (and Anschutz) must be given credit for is recognizing that they had to stop meddling in hockey operations decisions and let those qualified to make those decisions make them. They did that once Lombardi was hired and the results speak for themselves.

Ding, Ding, Ding!

Not going to apologize for TL, there were a bunch of questionable decisions, but I can't stand entirely with the haters--he was very cool about a problem I had with ticketing.

Back when there were discount tix available, I bought one of those coupon cards (actually, did that a few times), but the last time they did it the cards got delayed somehow and there was no way to take full advantage of the package (if you bought the tix right you ended up getting 10 off-night games for the price of three, or something like that, but two of the dates on the card had expired by the time I got the coupons). I complained to the box office when I went to buy my tix, they took a note, and he called me directly within 24 hours, and sent me upgraded seats.

If the complaint is hockey-oriented, I totally get where you're coming from. Outside of that, he wasn't a complete waste of space.

The guy did what he was paid to do here in LA. The best thing he and ownership did; was Hire Lombardi and let him make the tough choices.
