Good article

Interesting that Lucic spoke about contract negotiations primer to playoffs. I wonder if his play soured Lombardi's bromance with him?

Vinny seems like he was always a real pleasure to chat with. Looch too of course. Glad you got that experience, Gann.

Winning > worrying about a still uncertain expansion draft

We should know soon enough they have said if it will happen next year they will announce sometime in June.
Would think if they will go with Vegas at the award show.
But we'll likely have already decided to sign or move on from Lucic before that point.

I'm okay with Lucic staying, who is going to replace his 20 goals next season? A Defenseman? We need to patch up our D, but who is going to pick up that hole if Lucic leaves? Sad to see Vinny go, especially after his great season with us.

I don't want Lucic to sign, I rather have that money go to our defense.

If Lucic leaves not only does it make us softer, the guy had million hits this season but it also makes us weak offensively again. Watch games and see how many goals were scored with Lucic in front of the net. Kopitar had a great season because Lucic created space for him. Lucic should be on this team and we should be ecstatic to have him. Brown needs to go and that money can be used for a defenseman.

Biggest issue with this is if expansion happens. Then we can only protect 3D. Do we want to risk losing the piece we just got that way?

Just go the other route of 8 players+goalie. Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, (defense), Quick.

If the expansion team wants Lucic then good. Helps out the Kings. I doubt Kempe, Mersch, King, Lewis, Dowd, etc have much value around the league. Not a huge loss if they're taken. Maybe Kempe but that's about it.

Not sure why you quoted me. I wasnt saying anything about Lucic staying or leaving. I was only saying its much more important to value winning hockey games than worrying about an expansion draft that may not happen and we dont even know the officials for if it does. Doesnt make sense to base decisions on expansion draft until more is known.

After failing to sign Sekera, Deano can't let another 1st round pick go to waste like that.

Is it just me or was there little or no post-series content? Seemed like everyone clammed up and went home.

They talked all season about being pissed after missing the playoffs last year. They couldn't hold a lead in Game 1, couldn't get a lead in any other game, lost all 3 home games, only played decently when they were down multiple goals, none of the big boys really showed up, and it was a rather quick and quiet 1st round exit. What's left to say?

Apologize. Do the shame walk from Game of Thrones. Something.

They're all embarrassed with their effort, and they should be.

Regardless still a little shocking for the captain to not face the media.

I actually thought the media fawning over Vinny and Looch being 'true pros' was a subtle shot at that intentional or not

Time for a little soul searching for each of those guys on the team.

Some won't be back, Dean's going to make the tough requisite changes. Kind of like trading Visnovsky for Greene/Stoll. Tough for the fans initially but it paid off.

Probably looking at a mini-rebuild starting with the Captain. We need the cap space to rebuild the backend on D and get a third line C with Vinny retiring. Shore is not reliable.

It wasn't until about mid season that besides him screening and getting pucks towards the center of the net that I realized how good of a passer he was. The dude help make each line he was on that much better.

The dude can hit, screen the goalie, pass, and score goals in the dirty area; I think we'll miss him when he's gone.

I was in that media scrum with both players. I wouldn't take what we wrote that way.
