I think Rutherford had a falling out with Hellboy's dad so that might have been an issue.
Hellboy? Is it Karmanos? But didn't Karmanos himself have a falling out with his father? They worked together in Pittsburgh (Karmanos jr. and Rutherford), and not long ago Karmanos interviewed for the Canucks GM job, where Rutherford may have invited him for an interview. I thought they had a good relationship.

He did years ago (sued him IIRC) but they may have made up since.

Let's say that's true, but if Rutherford and Jason Karmanos had a bad relationship, he wouldn't have invited him to interview with the Canucks, or rather, he would have probably declined it. I always thought that Rutherford and Jason Karmanos had a good relationship, but maybe I don't know something.

Because the owner doesn't like to pay to fire people. Still, if someone is whispering in his ear, maybe ?
Adams works for food, he doesn't get paid at all, that's why Terry hired him.

I think Mike was saying that Jason Karmanos had a falling out with his dad Peter Karmanos (former owner of the Hartford Whalers and Carolina Hurricanes)

Well, I already knew that, and about the trial too, but I thought he was saying that Jason Karmanos had a bad relationship with Rutherford, and I thought, on the contrary, he had a good one. f***, I even thought that Rutherford would become our POHO, but stubborn Terry...

It never hit me until I was told today that the Sabres brand is so incredibly damaged it would be hard to find pride wearing the jersey. This is what a 14 year old told me today and its the exact harsh words that really drove in reality. Then I read this article as well. We keep asking what is wrong with the Sabres and its the brand that's hurting. I mean some of you guys can still remember the 70s like it was yesterday, I can remember the good times in the 90's but if you're not in your mid 30's or pushing late 50's.. you have no good memories of the team and the brand colors and logo now overall symbolises losing.

Those of you who took marketing would know how to re brand but does this organisation and do u wait until they are winning to do so? Do you change their colors? the logo? build a new arena give them a fresh look? Do you wait to do this if Pegula sells or would a new owner change the look of the brand?

I feel like a new GM is just spinning the wheels again and giving leeway for another 3 year re-tool/re-build

It's deeper than that too. I fear they have done damage in the hockey world with being an unserious operation. What are eichel and reinhart telling nhlpa members about this organization? That eichel situation especially likely resonates through the nhlpa. How about montour and having to deal with Ralph Krueger putting him in the pressbox and also making him play wing? Culling of the staff during the pandemic gives the brand a black eye.
The only way to change the perception of the brand at this point, it to put an unmistakable signal that the franchise is under new management and guidance. That will have to be someone with credibility and experience.

Not going to happen though. Adams will be poho, karmanos gm, change to ugly goat head 90s relic full time, and pretend things have changed

Selling the team would be a start.

I told my son that if he comes home with tix for Jan 2 meeting of the Avalanche-Sabres here in Denver, I won't be wearing my Sabres gear. Tired of getting laughed at when we lose.

PS. Arizona beckons. They just need a new arena to play in.

And there's a Ted's restaurant in Mesa.

What is the economical sense in paying Ruff money to not coach?
A) The Sabres likely are not paying a ton since his Sabres contract runs the exact same length of the remaining years on his NJ deal.

B) I was talking about replacing him with Appert as the economical move.
