Cozens name has been circling around Calgary for most of the season, it makes a lot of sense from the Flames perspective. They have a lot of cap, they need centres, young ones especially, right handed, Western Canadian kid, it checks a lot boxes for the one side.

On the flip, there's not much Calgary checks for Buffalo. Calgary's pretty heavy on veterans, not young NHL guys Calgary can afford to move from; very heavy on picks and prospects but that doesn't seem like a fit for Buffalo... as it's clear you guys can't be eternally rebuilding.

Honestly, probably requires a third team to make something happen but worth a look.

Those are the players Buffalo are going for… They’re not taking pics and prospects. Therefore it’s an equivalent level player of the same age or they’re adding to cozens for a better player.

It’d have to be part of a bigger package for sure but the point I was trying to make is Buffalo needs NHL ready RD and C. I still think cozens would have more success as a winger

Most sabres fans would balk at a futures oriented package
 
If the Sabres were to trade Cozens for Zary or Sharangovich, not long after trading Mittlestadt and putting faith in Cozens, every single person in the Sabres management should be fired and banned from NHL teams.

No direct fit between the teams. Andersson won't waive or re-sign longterm in Buffalo and the Flames would be stupid as hell to trade Zary or Coronato.

The Sabres have a deep rot and need to clean house at the top before selling low on any more players.
 
Calgary isnt going to give up one of their up and coming players for a player who has digressed the past two years. Last year Cozens scored 18 goals and 47 pts. This year he's on pace to score 16 and 41. Sabres fans, as usual, are over valuing their players.
 
Buffalo should pay whatever price Calgary wants to get Andersson to play with Dahlin.

Cozen, Byram and futures for Andersson is what Buffalo should be trying to do.

That price is a hard no. Unless Powers is the one coming back. Conroy has made it very clear hes not moving him or Weegar.

Only way I can see this if its an off season move involving a lot of draft picks and or some stuff from the farm. Dont see the Flames moving a roster piece in season.

Cozens and Byram plus futures for Andersson should be able to get it done.

Buffalo has no reason to sell Cozens for futures.

Yeah outside of something like Sharangovich + Pospisil with a nice futures incentive I can’t see what Calgary would offer up that included the NHL players Buffalo desires

Sharangovich is having a down year and while Pospisil brings something the sabres lack that’s not at all close in Cozens value and they wouldn’t really care for the futures we’d tack on to make it palpable

Again, you arent understanding what I am saying. Andersson is not available. If he was Cozens would be in Calgary already.

Huh? Why is byram in here? That package is hilariously bad … Rasmus Anderson is not a first line center or elite top pair D …. Or even on a long enough term contract even consider that.
 
They aren’t trading Cozens for futures and 2/3rds of the league has called on Cozens according to the same report so they’ll get something of quality if they decide to move him. It won’t be Calgary because they don’t have the pieces available to beat out the other 20 teams.

Then you're likely not getting Cozens :dunno:

As a neutral 3rd party here, a package of spare parts like Frost or Sharangovich isn't going to cut it from Buffalo. Even rejecting Zary for Cozens seems pretty silly to me.
