Good to get the win, maybe this low event hockey is the only way for them to win

Last 16 games : 16 goals at 5on5, 1.24 GF/60 which is the lowest in the league BY FAR. The 2nd lowest are the Panthers surprisingly with 1.70 GF/60

Blues are the highest with 3.03 GF/60, Sabres 2nd, Montreal 3rd, Jackets 5th

If we could only be average in ES scoring (Wild are 16th at 2.32 GF/60), we'd be a good team.

Edit : lol the Panthers scored 6 goals 5 on 5 last night, almost half of what we did in the last 16 games

Still overpaid at 2.6M for what should be a fourth liner.

Responsible low event player, he's like Dylan Gambrell but can play on your 3rd line. If he does, you're probably a low scoring team.

Now that I start knowing Travis Green more, you can see why Staios signed Amadio. He's tailor made for suffocating and soporific Green's hockey

Also not sure why Kleven is getting so much love, he was caved in badly, many times he just couldn't get the puck out or to a teammate for a zone exit. He basically played in his zone the whole game, probably the most expected goals against among both teams.

If you told me we would win only scoring 2 goals with Forsberg in nets I’d call ya crazy

This team managed to go above its previous 5 game average of 1.4 GPG scoring 2 tonight lol

Hopefully they can add some scoring by the deadline Button suggested Palmeiri

Yep he does all the little things right. Under the radar good. You appreciate him more seeing him play live.
No doubt but he’s capable of more scoring as we’ve seen in Vegas.

Not the prettiest but a W is a W

Couple notes

I dont hate Highmore, does a good job.

Great game by Forsberg, thats a couple in a row for him, good for him!

Also I thought Hamonic wasn’t that bad, had one of the dumbest pinch ever in the first I was like ahhhhhhhh

But then he played decent
Highmore has a good motor, unfortunately he doesn't have any finish. Mind you, it's not like anybody else does.

Not sure how you make that work though. Palmieri is making 5M and is a pending UFA. I do think Staios will try for an under the radar type player and Palmieri fits that theory but it would have to be a low price.

I’d rather see Staios go for someone we would want to re-sign and that could be here for a few years and provide some good secondary scoring. Not sure Palmieri fits that bill but if you can grab him for a 3rd rounder and send Hamonic the other way it could make some sense.

Versus Utah:
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Stutzle - Pinto - Amadio
Perron - Greig - Giroux
Highmore - Ostapchuk - Gaudette

Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - Jensen
Kleven - Mantipalo/Hamonic

Merilainen - Forsberg
Did they say Norris is back? Thought he was to be out for the weekend games

I thought Perron brought a whole different dynamic to Stutzle's line with his physical/big body play.

He was using it more efficiently than Tkachuk does.

I also thought Batherson looked completely different the few shifts I saw him play with Ostapchuk. A big body center does world of things for some of our skilled wingers. Ostap didnt generate almost anything offensively, though, so that was quickly dissolved. Greig was put there a few times, so was Pinto.

Was real nice to have Perron back.

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Perron
Giroux-Pinto-Batherson
Cousins-Greig-Amadio
Highmore-Ostapchuk-Gaudette

Keep that as the forward line. Replace Greig with Pinto depending on who is on.

Btw, the best pass of the night was the absolutely beautiful no look reverse saucer dish from Greig to Pinto-- that went past 2 Leafs desperately trying to intercept. Greig has a lot of potential. Greig has some of the best playmaking on this team.

Hamonic is on a cheap contract. Drawing back in after injury, he played 22 minutes last night in a game where we gave up 1 goal. I don't think he's a guy that's going anywhere

Cousins is now going to be out for awhile.

Who gets recalled for tomorrow's game? Real ones want Bongiovanni, but I think it will probably be Crookshank.
Emergency contact for Sam Gagner...

If Jenik had played better last callup, he makes sense in that he can fill that pest role, but I don't think they go back to him after last time. MacEwen would have likely gotten it but for his leave of absence.
