I think Greig was playing center initially but with Cousins out I think they slotted Greig back to wing and Ostapchuk at center.
Gaudette playing 4th line C to start the game and Osty on his wing.

Does it really make a difference? No one in our top 6 besides Stützle has scored a goal in like two weeks. He fits right in!

I think Green have to understand that he doesnt have the depth to play 4 lines or 3 pairing.Just stack lines , I know he switched Tkachuk on Stu line do same for the second line. These guyd have to play most minutes in those situations 3ven if they cold asf .They have to do it now.

I questioned Pinto centering the 3rd line too, then realized Green was trying to match Cousins - Pinto - Amadio against the Matthews line.
Need to shuffle the deck during intermission.

He was shooting for the rebound, it's a good play on a two on one if the pass option isn't available and the goalie is in good position for the shot.

The sportsnet panel discussion on the Cousins hit is actually f***ing embarrassing. They take issue that Cousins attempted a "backchecking hit"? Are you kidding me? The Toronto dummy was cutting through the middle of the neutral zone, he's not eligible to get hit? Get the f*** out of here.
And all the examples they showed of "bad backchecking hits" were all past the blueline by forwards coming from far distances. Not even close to the same area of the ice as Cousins. They don't even try to hide their Leaf bias. What a joke. Worst panel discussion I've seen in years.

Terrible decision making even for him. He seems to have lost all confidence with the puck. If you’re going to shoot that it has to be a pass off the pads for a second chance, or make a move and a pass across.
Good period overall, not giving up much quality chances against.

if he shot it off the pads or his arm it would have been a good play. Right in the bread basket any NHL goalie should absorb that.
I would welcome him shooting for the 5 hole! Welcome change from shooting at the crest.
