Good effort by the Marlies. Samsanov was good despite playing against a superior roster. Players on the fringe did well. No injuries.

Based on what I saw tonight, only Samsonov, Sandin, and one of Malgin or Robertson deserve to be on the team next Wed. I liked Kral, Abruzzese, McMann but no where close to being ready. Steeves has fallen off a cliff. Gaudette did some good things. The defence was not good, got trapped in their zone and got walked a couple of times.

I liked the way Samsonov battled and made massive saves in front of a Marlies squad. Great athleticism and a lot of nice down low work and lateral movement. The Veleno goal (screened in front) and Bertuzzi (high blocker, short side) had a whiff of Jack Campbell off-night to it, and not a lot you can do committing to a Soderblom backhand deke after your rookie defenseman gets spun around like a turnstile.

Sandin looked smooth and efficient distributing the puck. Robertson is buzzing in a good way. Gaudette seemed to be in the mix a lot physically and in the corners. Our selection of minor league defensemen was very prone to getting hemmed in on the forecheck. They kept looking for escape routes and retreats and showed a high skill level but that kind of possession defense needs a simple out and some solidity on the sidewalls.

Had to miss this one tonight. Judging from the comments in here it seems like Samsonov is putting up good showings, which is great to hear.

Lol two things being referenced there. Snow White was probably set in Germany and The Sound of Music in Austria. London doesn’t apply to either. I kind of liked his quip. Malgin does look small and was pushed around a bit and he played in Switzerland where the Alps are located.

Team mates? Who? Leafs put out a non competitive team and he is suppose to look great.
At least 12 of those guys will never get a sniff of the NHL.
Malgin looked like he belongs on the Marlies and Sandin as well.
When you are one of the few talents on your team this night, you will naturally try to do too much. Giving the puck up to some of these guys would be equally as frustrating.
It appears Robertson will be a Marlie. Why else would Keefe put him in a sure fire losing situation. He has shown what he can do.
I can see the headlines now, Keefe needs him to play and getting his confidence up with Marlies is the way.....bs. They need to put him with a couple of players and let him play. Mitchy was allowed.
If the truth is we want more defensive players or tougher players to win the cup...ok. but do not use excuse of him needing to play on Marlies.
