Loved that Matthews goal. So much going on, Knies getting mugged by Proverov, but flicks him off like a bug, leaving a lane for Benoit to half axle, quarter lutz behind the net, Marner reverse bunts the puck to the net, rebound goes to Knies who does his own reverse bunt, then Marner scoops up the puck from the scrum, dives passes the puck around the net to a waiting Matthews who buried it past Merzļikins ear to the top of the net.

Great goal great way to top off a great game and shutout for Stolarz.

Ottawa won't catch Florida. The Panthers will beat Detroit tomorrow, and Ottawa will lose two or three games the rest of the way. With Florida holding the tie-breaker between those two teams, it's mathematically difficult for Ottawa to make up that deficit.
