Youngsters."and for some reason the devils say, 'ok we can get a line change in here'" lol
Bunkis went on a rant on the Leafs organization and 3 amigos yesterday. Surely pissed off all 3. Need to see them play pissed off more often.
The JD Bunkis Podcast
JD Bunkis breaks down the biggest stories in sports every weekday morning. Airing live on Sportsnet 590 The FAN from 9-11AM ET.www.sportsnet.ca
The problem is the comments after a game .I'm just wondering how many will be changing their tune after bitching so much in the game thread.
I'll give you Willie. Not so sure about 16 and 34.agreed with them playing pissed off, but they DGAF about JD Bunkis, I'll tell you that for free. Bunkis had nothing to do with last nights win.
These guys are making $35+m and should be playing like this almost every night like McDavid, Drai, Kutch and MacKinnon. Problem is they barely turn it up in the playoffs and hence the 1 and 8 record in almost a decade. We can't call out mediocre efforts?
I don't think anyone was wrong for calling out that trash play.
At the same time we can mostly all agree that 3rd period was excellent other than the PK. Props to them for actually putting some intensity into their game. It's been missing for a long time. Prob since the Boston game.
Have you ever played a hockey game? There is NOT 1 single coach in G and/or O and/or A and/or N at da competitive level who tells his last D man to start skating up da ice after a pass to a winger assuming they will clear da zone .. you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS protect your net when you are last man back .. you NEVER NEER NEVER let da other teams BEST player get a breakaway 1 on 1 with your tender .. sorry this post really made me LOL .. sorry to embarrass you but your 3rd point shows you never played da gameMan - I have many, many bones to pick with Rielly. His defending and his O zone play can drive me crazy. He's overpaid. He has more often than not one of our best players in the playoffs due to his ability to lug the puck.
Maybe that will decline this year too but he's not going to be a healthy scratch and he's most certainly not playing up front.
The 1st goal he put the puck into an area the Leafs wanted it.. to try and get a bypass from the winger and pre activated the weak D (Tanev).. Lorentz didn't get it done. Rielly should be more ready for a turnover but many teams coach their last player out of the zone to linger around the net. That goal is not all Rielly.
I am not interested in telling you the level I both coached and played at... I think you can look at my posts and figure that out.Have you ever played a hockey game? It was actually Myers would blew the zone on that one. He should have stayed back in front of the net with Hughes instead of trying to join a rush that never started to materializeI am not interested in telling you the level I both coached and played at... Tanev was activated early, Rielly passed it where he was supposed to, he should have recovered to mid ice. Lorentz job is to get the bypass. So the fault is shared.
You may be right that it is Myers.. I thought I saw 8 on the replay. It was actually Myers would blew the zone on that one. He should have stayed back in front of the net with Hughes instead of trying to join a rush that never started to materialize
I agree, but I think he stopped a scoring chance once or twice too. Veterans know when to take the odd penalty.OEL had a bad night, those penalties were bad on his part
You can't take that second penalty after your team just ties it up.I agree, but I think he stopped a scoring chance once or twice too. Veterans know when to take the odd penalty.
slapperThe majority of which were taking wrist shots pinching to the circles. He could have 0 goals on the year as long as he’s generating rebounds and forcing defenders to acknowledge that he exists instead of collapsing to the slot knowing there’s nothing him or Marner can do about it.
It doesn't look like Berube's system is holding the boys back from being allowed to score goals.
A third explanation is he has 8 year contract with a full NMC, a beautiful wife and baby, and hockey isn’t that important to him anymore. He’s taken his lackadaisical approach and lack of urgency on the ice to a whole new level. And in his case, there’s a trend of downward performance for several years now. His 20 goal season was 6 years ago and his defensive game which was never very good has taken a nose dive. He doesn’t create much offensively anymore. He’s not in their top six for me right now. He's been bad this year. An explanation is that he had a kid 2 months before the season and came into the season out of shape and out of practice.
An alternative explanation is that he is just washed up at the age of 30. To me, this one is less likely.
Both times on OEL penalties.Well, they are nothing if not entertaining.
Good to see both AM and Willie step up, and I do think the return of McCabe played a factor. He's really a key guy on the blueline for this team.
On the downside, they must lead the league in "goals given up within ~2 minutes of scoring to tie or take a lead". Last night they added 2 more to that list (oddly, both NJ responses came almost exactly 2 minutes after the Leafs scored).
I know I'm beating a dead horse on their lack of depth scoring but in their last 6 games the only two forwards to score outside the Big 4 are Knies (4) & Robertson (1).
"4th line is trash."I highly recommend the Devils GDT. LOL
