100%. I don't think he ever made a save like this for us when we needed it, you need your starting goalie to be more than average if you want any kind of success. Forget a save like that, he would routinely let in floaters every game. Game 7 vs Boston and game 5 vs Columbus, he let in identical goals, from the complete side of the net, no angle, nothing to shoot at.

Agreed. They are the toughest match up and we get them in the 1st. The confidence will be at an all time high if we can get past them, I don't think any other team in the East is better than them. But the East is a blood bath, any team can legitimately make the final.

Oddly we also need Rielly to give it away to Hagel again after the hit for that play to work too. Playoff hockey is just weird sometimes.

You can literally say "Player x" missed it, for every single great save that's ever been made. Give the goalie some credit for getting across.

Soup haters have shut their mouths and that makes my heart happy, good character win last night from the role players. I hope JT and Willy wake up soon, if they do this series is O-V-E-R in the next two.

Tampa was our worst matchup. They could match our skaters while also having elite goaltending in Vasi

- Florida doesn't play defense, they look like the 17-18 leafs on steroids
- Washington is too slow, we'll expose them worse than we are Tampa
- Carolina is very good, but they don't have the high end talent we do. They also don't have the elite goaltending required to beat us the past few years. They feel like a worse version of TB, imo
- NYR is scary because of Shesterkin, but if we can get to Vasi we can get to him as well
- PIT is in shambles due to goaltending
- We're comfortably better than Boston, their offense isn't good enough

We just need to get out of this series. Find any way possible to close it out. The momentum this team would get from finally winning a round and doing it against the B2B champs would be astronomical

You gotta love seeing that stuff. There was a wings game maybe like 10 years ago, I remember watching Zetterberg carry the puck, had a wide open empty net, did a drop pass to Franzen instead who scored 5 goals that game. Absolutely love it, you gotta believe it's great for the locker room as well.

Yup hopefully it would create the same momentum Montreal got last year, only difference is we’re actually good with top players

Go check the Andersen save on Pastranak in game 3 in either 2018 or 2019

People were going insane for him then.

Andersen made a lot of crazy saves especially vs the Bruins. We lost and he's no longer a leaf so no one's really cares for him but he has some absolutely insane saves in the playoffs for us

I think mentally the 'incentive' to win is not there for Tampa whereas this is the make it or break it season for the Leafs.

yea gonna be honest, if I was a tampa player right now with back to back cup wins I'd want to chill somewhere on a florida beach. But then again I've also gone fairly down the rabbit hole and don't feel as incentivized about the corporate world
