3 games in a row with 5 or more goals, oh it's on. Love the Leafs fanbase storming into Buffalo and single-handedly raising their gate revenues. If you can believe it, I've never actually been to a Leaf game in Buffalo; it'd be nice to but going into Buffalo is depressing.

It might not be sexy firewagon hockey, but if they get a Cup - hell, if they make the final 4, I'm more than happy to see them being a low-event but opportunistic team. I still don't like how they've played this month and I don't like how this one, like Dallas, had a very tense final few minutes with the lead.

The 3rd line rolls on 90 seconds in and Bobby Mc-too-much-f***ing-Mann slaps in a flutterball from Max, love to see it. As soon as I saw them busting down on a 3-on-1 I knew 'This is a goal' and that was not an easy shot for him with such a wobbly puck. McMann is going to get 20 goals, maybe more since he seems to score in bunches, and after next year is going to get at least 3.5. He's big, he's fast, he's physical, he's responsible and he can play with anybody, perfect guy for the middle six.

I'll have some crow, I think he should have been gone before game one, but not only is Nicky Bobby scoring, he's playing a more engaged game in all 3 zones. Hope he can keep it up, we need good depth scoring and he needs to become an NHL regular, not tomorrow, not next year, now.

I don't think I've ever seen anything like that disallowed Tuch goal - I just flat felt bad for them, and then when they got a penalty you knew it was over.

I have an idea for a rule change; on a 4 minute high stick, the penalized team should have a choice, take the 4, or take a full 2 at 3 on 5.

Mo hasn't been as good as he can be, but at the end of the 1st when he was in the box, you notice it when he isn't available. I loved him going after Thompson, a much bigger player who definitely threw an open-handed slap at the start. The issues he may have, you can never deny his heart.

Imagine you're Matt Murray. You start your career with back to back Cups, then you bounce around and have mad injury issues, hip problems for a goalie, ouch. But you get the surgery and still sign on to ride the bus in the A. Then you get your call-up and grab the W in your first game back. It's not nice having Stolarz out for so long and Woll made of glass, but having him there is a good feeling. I do think Stolarz/Woll would have had the Peterka goal, but he hasn't played in two years, he gets a pass for 'dat.

That said, you can see his fundamental flaws as a keeper. He couldn't catch a basketball with his glove, he swims a little and he plays deep, and that's without getting to the injuries.

On the topic of Woll, #1 goalies are perfectly capable of playing back to back games when there's a day in between. I think in this case with Stolarz out and him being glassy that sitting him was the right call.

MaxPac could go the rest of the season without another goal as long as he keeps hitting and he's already covered his league min ticket, but dude - how do you miss that EN?

Nylander looked hungrier and I loved the trolololo empty netter, good game from him.

OEL, McCabe and Tanev continue to pay dividends on the back end with smart play, active sticks and well-timed pinches. They're all playing a big role but they're all a little different; Tanev is pure D, great stick and shot blocking machine. McCabe is a two-way guy who never shies from the rough stuff and OEL is just killer all-around.

Not often I have said this so far, but Matthews had a decent amount of pop to his game tonight. I still think he's being a little absent-minded on D, but at least it's not as bad as Dallas, where the 1st goal was solely on him and the 3rd was at least half his fault.

Even with the two apples Mitch did not have the greatest game. Normally you see him busting his dance moves and getting away with it, but Buffalo neutralized him each time. He's been the team's MVP, or maybe co-MVP with Stolarz so far, he doesn't need to kill it every night.

Flashback: With the 99th pick overall in 2006, the Leafs take a humble, unpretentious kid from Hicksville, Manitoba named Jimmy Reimer. 18 years later, he has over 500 games, over 200 wins and 30 shutouts, and has made over 30 mil in career earnings. Sucks he was never on any good teams that won anything, but that is an excellent career and something to be proud of. He is one of just 7 players from this draft still in the NHL.

On Buffalo you immediately noticed the return of Dahlin, and I liked Thompson, Benson, Power, Tuch, Peterka, McLeod and Samuelsson.

12 in a row...damn, two more and they find themselves on Wikipedia - where their 18 game streak from 20-21 sits tied for 1st.

Something has got to give over there, because they have too many great pieces (Thompson, Cozens, Tuch, Peterka, Power, Dahlin and Byram) to be so bad.

Just a home game against the Crylanders tomorrow and a 2:00 PM game on Monday(? The kids game?) against the team that thinks they're Canada's team, but isn't, and just can't seem to beat the Leafs for the life of them.

Good for Murray to get a W.

The third line is on fire right now.

Good game by Nylander even if he is turning into an ENG suck and blowing the zone early.

Didn't like seeing Matthews get beat on. Something is obviously still wrong with him and it can't help getting hit and cross checked.

Leafs 3rd line remains the hottest in the league. Quite the 180 for all three players at the same time, if it continues, it makes it a far more interesting team.

Far quicker transition/outlet passes tonight. They have been improving this.

Don't like to see a team up 5-1 and then give up the 4th which was called back on a coin flip call. Serious teams shut it down, but it;'s the Sabres.

On that note, it's the Sabres, I try to temper the assessment, but no road game is ever really easy, even with most the crowd on your side.

Lots of goals now for the Leafs. I expect the same against the Islanders on Saturday. The parade of terrible teams continues.
