Kucherov is such a little bitch.

Love to have him though. Dude is an absolute premier play maker and is competitive as f***. We could use a bastard like him.

I watched some of the game on Amazon and I was surprised to hear the commentators say some nice things about the Leafs. Nice to get homer commentary for a change.

The solution to the PP is now obvious. One of the core must sit out PP1. They can rotate who sits but it has to be one of them.
Difference between Knies and JT being in front is the simple fact that Knies tend to screen the goalie while JT is usually next to the goalie looking for tips or passes

They're both hella elite at it.. Berube has decided on 5 forwards to go with 2 big bodies down low. It was JT and Knies - and right now it's Knies and McMann.

A luxury to have lots of strong talent to double down on.

I’m gonna sound old here but I don’t like that Michigan attempt from Matthews.

Any other player I wouldn’t care but as the captain, I expect Matthews to not f*** around like that. Be serious and set an example of how to play right. That crap won’t work now let alone an elimination game.

A little sloppy at times and Woll a little concerning but a decent win and a needed win
Seriously??? Which goal???

First goal was a deflection 7 feet out.
Second goal was a rocket and partially screened
Third goal - PP. Lost his stick and they score on a back door slap pass.

I thought he was super solid. Good body language, outside the crease looking confident.

You sound old.

It wasn’t forced and almost worked.

If you watch the play again, the puck was rolling and it was honestly the best opportunity for him to score. He's not that guy that we can paint with that 'fancy' brush, so let's not go there - this was literally just the best play from that position with the puck rolling on him like that.

Not just winning, but looking like a functional team (for the most part). It wasn't even the losses that were the problem, it was the dog shit effort that led to those losses.

The big boys were stellar tonight. Marner, Matthews, Nylander, Knies, all top notch!

Berube has been speaking of the D being more active on the offensive side, Rielly looked excellent tonight (thanks McCabe), but hitting the gaps, joining the rushes at the right time. He has to have that as a part of his game to be effective.

Everyone else was good enough. I didn't like the 4th lines game, but they really never had a chance to play a part really.

Woll was excellent. I do think he could have stopped that Raddish shot, but matters not in the end.

Good win.

Dunno if the audio was messed up, but it sounded like there was NO crowd for large portions of that game (Forslund did mention technical issues, so maybe that played a part).
Crowd was pretty dead tonight. Quiet game all around.

Eventually Matthews is gonna do something really new like pull off a Michigan but angle it down to go 5 hole or just over the pad. Everyone blocks up high when it's coming. It'll happen.

That's a goal like 9 times out of ten, 6'5" goaltender, shoulder squared up to the top of the net on a wraparound, I don't know how he got positioned for that so quickly.

I thought Rielly might have played his best game of the season. Not a surprise given who he was playing with. I tell you, we all gotta pray that McCabe and Tanev are healthy for the playoffs. Rielly made some crisp passes out of his zone, jumped up into the play discriminately, and actually outmuscled a few players along the boards. He needs someone like McCabe anchored to him. Treliving has to find a RD to play with him through trade.

Posts like this make me wish we had a downvote option lol
It was probably his best chance to score there. It wasn’t a case of him showboating or acting immature

He literally said he "didn't see any other option", as "the puck was rolling", and that it was "the beginning of the period and the (stick) tape was fresh". Dude thinks so quick out there it's kinda insane, and shoulda totally squeaked in!

Goalie saw it and slammed his shoulder into the corner. Thought it was actually a pretty slick attempt by Matty, but the save was better unfortunately.

If Matthews pots a Michigan or two and has goalies guessing as to whether he’s going to do it or not every time he’s behind the net, that just opens up more holes for a wraparound or a centering pass.
