McMann is a glue guy no matter where he plays. His speed and tenacity is a good compliment to any line. Not sure if tonight showed great chemistry because of a rush from McMann and a nice play in OT from Marner though.

Keep him ...

Only played 84 NHL games so should have lots of rope left.

Really was missed in the playoffs last year.

McMann and Knies the missing ingredients.

The playoff failures of the past half decade are directly related to having a useless head coach who couldn’t make in-game adjustments and insisted on playing a system that’s a proven failure.
Personally, I don't think it was Keefe insisting on playing a failed system. It was Keefe telling them to play one way for the entire season, and then telling them to switch styles for the playoffs.

We started the season so-so this year while guys tried to adjust to Berube's system. That's what happened to us in the playoffs every year under Keefe.

My post was deleted? I don't even know what I said wrong other than calling out a known troll from the main boards who's an oiker fan. Are their mods coming in here or some shit??

Go leafs go.
Good win.
Yay Marner for the goal.
Lol at butthurt oilerfans coming here to read this post and crying about it.
I had a post deleted for calling out a Leaf troll, so yes, some mods are definitely coming in here.

Remember when a few people here wanted to trade Knies away for some immediate help the last couple of years? Damn that would've been a monumental mistake. ;)
I liked your post cuz I like Knies but Brandon Hagel is an absolute menace of a player. He has scored 30g, is ppg this season, kills penalties, is versatile on the pp. A few years back it might have been a difference maker.

It’s been obvious right from Game 1 that Toronto is a totally different team with a professional coach like Berube.

Leafs started the season with three dominant wins in their first four games, out scoring opponents by a 2:1 margin.

Seems like they adjusted just fine.

You’re forgetting one MASSIVE difference, my friend.

Hagel has a $6.5M cap hit, Knies has a $925K cap hit.

True! But I think he was only 1.5 up until this year. I love what Tre is doing but I wonder, on occasion, tho if the peak for this core was a couple of years back.

Everything that Hagel brings, Knies is doing the same here. It remains to be seen if Knies can have the offensive output that Hagel has shown, but Berube has been playing him alot and he's shown that he deserves the extra ice time including on the powerplay and penalty kill.

Hagel would've been a nice addition, but I don't think it would've been the difference between the Leafs getting knocked out in the first round most years and the Leafs going far in the playoffs.

Reeves didn't leave his feet, and Nurse had his head down. But full steam and the head was the principal point of contact.

Right call, but he may get away with a small or possibly no suspension. I have no idea what his history is.

You hate to see anyone hurt like that.

If that was Mr X hitting OEL like that the same posters who say it shouldn't be 5 would be screaming for a lifetime suspension plus jail time, if not the death sentence.

The Oilers are going to have to pay Bouchard at least 9, because if they don't it's Ekholm, Nurse, Broberg, Kulak, Stetcher and Dermott. What the hell was he thinking with that blind flip up the middle and then not a minute later having a controller unplugged moment on McMann? You can be lazy and smart or hardworking and stupid but not lazy and stupid, it doesn't matter how hard you shoot the puck.

Nasty hit on Nurse, hope he's okay and hope it gets Reaves out of the lineup a few games. I want Reavo to do something, like a timely fight, maintaining a cycle or inspiring fear, not going out headhunting (fwiw Nurse was kinda admiring his pass, still doesn't make it right).

He got his 1-1-2 but Connor really needs to work on his complete game. Bro, you don't have to win the Art Ross every year, you are already going to the Hall of Fame and you will get your 15 mil per. Instead of getting 140 points, get 120 but don't give up on the play when the puck doesn't go in. A lot of us ride Mitch for his playoff performance, me included and rightly so, but that's what an elite defensive forward looks like. Mitch was the best player on the ice tonight.

Congrats on getting to the finals, going down 0-3, clawing back to tie and then fumbling the 4th and inches, it doesn't matter. You draft the most talented player since Mario you should have at least 2 Cups by now.

Jets got smoked by Florida as well, in case this night couldn't get any better.

I was really impressed by how well McCabe handled McDavid on several occasions.

Knies with assists from McDavid and Bouchard.

Wow! McMann just blew past their D! Beauty.

I think the broadcast crew mistakenly thought Berube was yelling about Stolarz' stick being knocked away, as that's what they were talking about.

Good stop on McDavid after he blew by everyone. Then Mitch cutting off the pass on the next rush and going end to end. Excellent!

I'd assume if Dubas was still here, he would be trading McMann for Malgin while his value is high...:sarcasm:

Funny how McMann got a penalty for knocking away an opposing players stick a few games ago but when McDavid does it to Tavares with the net empty in a game tying situation it's crickets.

I feel bad for Reaves.

He takes a lot of heat because he's not even a replacement level player. So if he's not punching faces or delivering big hits there isn't much of a role for him. But when a questionable play like this happens the torches and pitchforks come out.

At least he isn't completely useless like Domi.

What a horrible signing that turned out to be. In terms of salary to performance he's probably the worst on the team. I don't know if putting Nylander as centre is the answer but Domi definitely is not.

McMann and Knies both had goals called back last game so it's good to see them score tonight.

When a player like Matthews or Nylander have their goals taken away it's one thing. But for a guy like McMann who might only score another half dozen it's gut wrenching. Both McMann and Knies remind me a lot of Hyman and he was one of my favourite Leafs players in the last two decades.

It feels good having a couple guys like that on the team again.
