Post-Game Talk: Leafs win 4-1

So where is the need for Kampf then? I don't see why Robertson needs to come out of the lineup to accommodate him.
Kampf is there if we need another killer or not comfortable with our Faceoff percentage. Him or Laughton.. doesn't really matter to me but can see Laughton getting the nod.

Really liking Holmberg's game

When Holmberg plays like he did tonight, he's a solid bottom six player.

The problem is they put him with offensive players sometimes. He can contribute a bit offensively, but he's not a good fit with skilled players. He's better at playing a grinding style and getting and creating greasy goals.

Not a thing to dislike about this game and loved Berube’s lineup changes.

Knies-Matthew-Marner
Domi-Tavares-Nylander
McMann-Holmberg-Robertson
Lorentz-Laughton-Jarnkrok/Pacioretty

Was pulling for Laughton to score that shorty. If there was a guy desperate to get one, it’s been him.

So much to like about tonight. Hopefully we can rest some guys and get healthy.

Cheers

Leafs remind me of the New Jersey Devils from 25 years ago. Get Great goaltending and grind down the opposition until they make a mistake and capitalize on it. It may not always look pretty but it works for them and should help them be more successful in the playoffs.

Yeah, you get the hot goaltending and you can really set yourself up for a nice run. Look at what Montreal did back in 2021 with Price; that team was no where near as talented as this team.

I don't care too, too much about winning the division. We get home ice to start the playoffs; if we win and face Florida, we still have home ice, if we win and face Tampa, I still don't mind our chances playing on the road, considering the success we've had playing in Tampa. With that said, I say rest all the top six players for at least one game (if possible). I'd consider sitting AM for two. I also think the team can get into bad habits trying to set Mitch up for his 100th point. If it happens, then great, if not, oh well; it's really not that big a deal IMO.

Not even remotely similar. The Devils dominated puck possession clogging up the neutral zone, preventing zone entries and having Brodeur retrieve dump-ins and pass back to the PMDs (Rafalski/Niedermayer). Brodeur famously rarely registered great save percentages compared to other top goalies at the time. Meanwhile the Leafs are below-average in puck possession and shot attempts and rely on shot blocking to close the gap in shots on target, and defense to limit shot quality rather than preventing attempts.

If anything, Carolina's more similar to the olden Devils, though there are still plenty of differences.
