Fair but then our record isn't really that inflated.

The PP also got hot recently too...

I'm guessing we are probably 2 goals off our normal PP numbers (could be wrong, haven't checked, just know we are around 20%)

Anyway, I think we likely have a similar record if healthy and our goalies play at their normal level... Stolarz especially has been lights out.

30% isn't that outrageous of a number though.
Over that same stretch New Jersey has a PP of 40% and Winnipeg had a PP hitting at almost a 44% clip through it's first 12.
Sure it obviously helped us out but I would say our PP being 10% through the first 13 games which ranked 31st is a much more egregious number.
We had a stretch that was poor on the PP, and we had a stretch that was great. The stretch that was poor may have been a bit poorer than the great one was great, but it's still only one game state, and that slight overall PP underachievement is countered by overachieving at 5v5. Leaving us about where we'll likely end up overall.

Odd that the 'disinterested' player led the team in takeaways and had easily the best assist of the night, and he and the 'ineffective' goalscorer led the team in shots.
Yeah it was against the hawks ffs

That line was hemmed in

If a 'disinterested' player led the team in shots and takeaways, what do you call all the other players who did worse against "the hawks ffs"?
Oh i was waiting for you to post this bs.

17 hawks who had a better xgf than Matthews and Nylander. 12 leafs. Which include JT and Mitch.

You can say advanced stats blah blah blah but they check out with the eye test and if you can't see that take a breathe touch some grass and get the Marner hate out that you can't even see what's actually happening

Mitch was just OK, what did he really do?
Oh goonie you're such a goonie face some days. For starters he picked up your boy when he took that penalty with a well executed pk. Got the assist on JTs winner. Fired a bank pass to Knies stick on the EN. According to the broadcast team skated just over 20km on the night, pfft NHL schmeNHL as Cliff was known to say.

It's funny that those 2 point games he keeps putting up look so effortless, no wonder nobody appreciates him.

Ho-hum I guess that they'll continue taking calls on him, the Leafs will tell them what they want in a package and then tell them what Marner wants XX on on 8 year deal and how Mitch wants it structured. The sign off will be "we'll wait for your call until they won't because the deal will be right.

Can't believe I gotta defend Mitch.

I'd take willy every day of the week and twice in Sunday's because i like him more, Mitch is whack in the playoffs but mostly I hate how this f***er always want more money but wants to also play for the leafs. He's nowhere near as drai, or other guys.

BUUUUT, he's been incredible this year in all three zones and has been out best player sans goalies. Like both things can be true. He can piss you off but still be insanely good.

No one is saying anyone has to be happy with Mitch at 13-14 mill. But man call a spade a spade when he's better than willy or Matty on game to game basis.

What has Marner to do with the fact that you made an odd statement about Nylander and Matthews?

I don't hate Marner (or anyone else). I think he's good enough that you don't have to try to support him by disparaging other players.

Marner is one hell of an amazing player. He just needs to figure out how to bring that level of play in the playoffs... we have a few guys like that, Matthews too. Just relax and play your game, you'll be fine. Weirdly, I think this year they might figure it out... and much of that will be Berube.

As I've been watching this team and this year and even though we're only at the quarter pole, this team looks close to rock solid and may rank in the top 5 of the best Leafs teams I've ever witnessed.

1964-65 Leafs
1999-00 Leafs
1962-63 Leafs
1992-94 Leafs

I know it's early days but they could knock off the 99-00 Leafs which was the first ever 100 point team, heck even Jonas Hoglund snapped 29 pucks into the net that year. Hogs also missed 4 open nets and hit 11 posts or crossbars.

Names like McAuley, Korolev, Yuskevich, Kaberle, Thomas, Berezin, Joseph etal. This was the year they added Tucker to go along with Max' Dad Tie, Cory Cross, Chris McAllister and Kris King. This was very much a team that listened to and reflected their coach Paddy Big Irish Quinn. These guys were knocked out 4-2 in the second round by the Cup champion NJ Devils.

Not a fan of the "Black Drew jersey" doesnt Matthews make enough from the team already as partner in "Drew?" Besides Leafs colors are Royal Blue and White, black has zero to do with their past.

maybe this should be the 3rd Jersey this is Bob Pulfords 62/63 iconic Jersey. I really love the shoulder inserts and the Maple Leafs crests on these, not to mention the stripe on the pants.

It wasn't an odd statement? Matthews and Nylander had 29 other players with a higher xgf last game? The eye test showed that. What do you not get?

Odd to call two players names in response to a post that didn't mention either name.

Ignoring the stats I provided and using a single 'expected' stat really just confirms my point.

Your 'eye test' was different than mine, or the commentators who talked about Nylander's hard work and positive play.

What I don't get is why you have to try so hard to discredit two good players, or why you had to bring Marner into the conversation.

I thought we decided that anything that starts with “expected” is essentially meaningless………oh wait maybe it’s me that decided that.

Berube didn’t seem overly impressed with that line post game, but what does he know. And he wasn’t looking at stats yet. It’s okay.

As for Marner, his consistency has been impressive.

Your being dense for no reason. The original post mentioned the big four and I mentioned my opinion. He didn't mind why do you? Hop off bud

Does anyone like the Black Jerseys? I don't usually care about such things but find the numbers very hard to make out, particularly live.

Leafs should always be Blue and White.

I think in theory a black based alternative jersey could work for the team, but this current version is too muddled.

Nothing will ever come close to toping the blue and white though regardless
