The Leafs got a guy in the offseason to counter everyone's favorite criticism of the Leafs "they're soft and get pushed around" and when said player goes out to fulfill the purpose he was acquired for now it wasn't apparently fair because the guy who cheapshotted our guy doesn't like fighting?

I think he was saying the Leafs should have sent someone else besides Simmonds, who is a known fighter, against Edler, who is not. Wanted it to be more of a fair fight.

Pretty sure we've seen Leafs' in the last few years who have done something borderline or been suspended, and the other team's tough guys came at them.

I think it's a clear message that if you go after someone on his team, Simmonds will come at you.

It would have been better if Jumbo (old/fragile) or Bogo (hurt) did it but that's a nitpick at best.

The point was the message was sent and should be a lesson to both other teams and our players that dangerous plays aren't going to be ignored.
