Just throwing it out there...
Leafs are undefeated when Ryan Reaves isn't in the lineup

They usually win and dont get pushed around when he is not in the lineup and the 4th line has more speed.

Having Reaves as some kind of "protector" may be one of the most overrated thing in hockey.
Don Cherry brainwashed so many. Im all for a power forward who fights and checks and has a hockey IQ and skill to help the team. Reaves only has the fighting quality and with all the armour and shields players have now, Its more like a bear hug match. So he offers really nothing but a cheerleader in hockey equipment.

I’d be surprised if Treliving added Reaves because he watched Don Cherry

I don’t think he’s necessary on this team but IMO, the still win last night if he dresses.

Unless you're winning a game 1-0, shutouts are meaningless. F course, hat tricks are also meaningless.
To me, it still shows the immaturity of our overall team mindset.

Aside from this, and a couple of bad turnovers, the entire team was solid.

Tavares might not be a 11M dominant forward anymore... but I'll never understand why people just can't appreciate how hard working & productive he is at his stage of his career and through his tenure here. He's at 11 points in 10 games and 61% on faceoffs this season so far, among many other very good positive stats.

Some people seem to like Ryan Reaves more than John Tavares, which is really weird.

13.9 Bona Fide Long-Term Injury/Illness Exception Conditioning Loan. If the Club determines that it needs more time to75ARTICLE 13 13.10-13.12assess the Player's fitness to play, the Club may file a written request with the Commissioner's Office, with a copy to the NHLPA, in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereof, to extend the Loan for an additional two (2) games. The Commissioner, upon good cause, may approve the one-time extension. The Commissioner's approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. A Player on a Bona Fide Long-Term Injury/Illness Exception Conditioning Loan will continue to be listed on Injured Reserve and will not count against the Club's 23-man roster limit.

So If I'm reading this right... the longer of six days and three games... The next three games for the Marlies is Nov 2nd, 9th and 10th.. that's quite the break between games though.

I love how Berube wasn’t praising the team post game. He so under stated on his assessments, feel that will help with complacency. Keefe was always so quick to jump on wins, this guy keeps pushing for more.

Leafs are undefeated when downy soft Liljegren gets punted out of town. Our soft stick checking blueline seems like a distant memory.
Thank god we have that heavy weight Timmins in the lineup instead, throwing mad checks and bullying people.

Nah... Reaves is pretty much useless.

Good win, I think we really need a good third line center. We seem to have our top two lines pegged for now, and have no one for the third center. Domi doesn’t cut it.

It’s just a matter of not over paying him on the next deal. I don’t touch his extension until the end of the season. He doesn’t want to move, he had a fantastic deal, there is nothing wrong with trying to squeeze him for a friendlier deal to finish his career. He is obviously still a useful player, it’s just getting his inevitable decline and number to work.

I imagine they try and be fair with him but they also need to use that 'he doesn't want to leave' leverage with him, same with Marner.

Tavares' style is easy chemistry for anybody. Including speedy guys like Nylander and Barzal.
Give it two games and we will be back to “Nylander and JT have no chemistry, why do we insist on putting them together”. Years of this…..

Agreed!

He was a point-per-game guy for 5 straight years when he got here, and has had a great start this season. Even his "down" year with "only" 65 points last season he still got 29 goals.

Tavares is a net-positive almost every shift. He's positionally sound, has a net-front presence, he cycles well and fights for pucks, he backchecks, wins face offs, and he has chemistry with almost anyone you put on his line. I don't get why so much of HFLeafs seems to hate the guy.

Exactly, he has zero desire to leave. No need to over pay him, because the decline is coming. Will be interesting to see what is acceptable to his camp, it’s quite a haircut.

Tavares has been really good the past two games. That line plays the right way and patches and JT score “Leaf goals”.
