Really happy to have the 4 ... but let's not pretend coaching... defence... and goaltending also aren't better. At least in my mind.
Absolutely. For sure they are, which is actually why I'm excited this year. Feels more sustainable. Pick up a little scoring at the deadline and I'm good with this group having a legit chance. His system is playoff friendly too.

Leafs have a real shot here at first in the conference

Carolina may potentially have both of their goalies out longterm, NYR is faltering, Panthers are sleepwalking and likely saving energy due to all the hockey they've played

Marner and W Nylander are clearly the story of the game. And rightly so.

But can I just point out that Tavares won 18 of 23 face offs, and had a pass so good it should have counted for 2 assists. Great game (again) from the former Captain. He's been so consistent it almost seems impossible.

JT might be playing his best hockey since his first season as a Leaf

Much more noticeable and impactful 5 on 5

You’re thinking of Harri Sateri
That would be it….
Lmao no that was Sateri but thanks for the hilarious memory. Dubas getting so desperate for goaltending trying to sneak a KHL goalie through only to get cucked on waivers is peak Dubas era Leafs
lol. Can’t let it go.

I don’t know what’s more delicious: that all the GM’s conspired to collectively punk Dubas at every turn, giving him the GM Brotherhood thumbs down.

…… or that Treliving has given us league leading goaltending and a pipeline in 1 season that Dubas could barely comprehend and had resorted to pitiful bush league bottom of the barrel scraping like he had to resort to.

Imagine fancying yourself as a Stanley Cup contender and being reduced to trying to hang on to a guy like Sateri because your goaltending is so pitiful you need him….

While playing with Marner again…

Let’s hope we don’t see Matthews and Marner back together when Matthews returns.
It could and should open up an opportunity for Domi to join Matthews and Knies too. Are we maybe auditioning and sampling a third line winger to play with Willy and Minten? Is this Holmberg? Robertson? Grebenkin? Alex Nylander? Is Holmberg the C on this line?

Not trying to defend Dubas here, but Stolarz is literally the only goalie in the Leafs pipeline not drafted or signed by Dubas

Actually I think Woll might have been Lou

The C I think is who Trev acquires. That would put Marner, Matthews and Nylander to each have their own line to drive - I’m liking the sound of that

say what you want he got Shanny/MLSE to fork out probably the largest NHL coach contract till date; got FIRED and got paid to go on vacation LMAO

All he had to do was lay low and he’d be remembered as the Red wings/team Canada guy, now he’s going to be remembered as the guy obsessed with looking through teenagers private pictures. Good for him on the money though.

Sorry, but Dubas goalie carousel here is a complete comedy of error that Treliving seems to have figured out very quickly.

Dubas deserves no credit for anything related to our current goaltending. His handling of Jarry in Pittsburgh just further reiterates the guy has no clue.

Tonight’s game was easily one that previous iterations of this team would throw away.

Even with a bunch of Marlies this team showed up.

Doesn’t have to be pretty. The work ethic is speaking for itself.

Bit of an ugly win. Also some bad luck. They got the 2 points though.

Leafs could insert an entire line on Wednesday if Matthews, Knies, and Domi all return.

Willie “Tarp off” Nylander cracks me up. Being interviewed shirtless in the hallway with brother Alex after the game. The guy just loves flashing the flesh.

The bandwagon will start to fill up. Luckily, I have a big wagon, so lots of space for everyone. Just wait until the leafs beat Florida on Wednesday. That one will be a big stop on the bandwagon tour.
