I should just be positive about the win but damn, that was a sneaky-dirty play by Sergachev and he totally knew what he was doing. Could have been a huge injury. Other than that, great game. The Tavares pass to Marner was next level and Marner (a top passer in the league) knew it and told him so. Not many people could make or receive that pass and we get to watch both.

Leafs played very well against carried by mostly the play of the top players. Another good performance defensively as well.

Greb in particular didn't do anything all game. Minten was quiet.

Robertson had 2 posts and was forechecking really good. Steeves and Lorentz also had good games.
With kids like Minten and Grebs you’re going to get massive inconsistency game to game especially at the NHL level. Everybody knows they’re not ready. They’re filling in pretty well though.

Congrats on the win against an improving team. Utah is going to get better, too.

*Mitch's first, from a great play by Tavares, BUT, doesn't happen if it wasn't for the fabulous defensive structure from McCabe and Tanev. Textbook!
*The way too early to call this call: Minten is going to be a player, he's sticking with the team. If he can manage the sched., his smarts are going to impress his coaches, and us.
*Woll with the kick save and a beauty near the end was so impressive.
*Robertson's best game of the season. With 7:30 left in the game, deep in the Leafs zone he's battling McBain? And, lays a hit on him? Wow. Two posts, some dogged forechecking at the end, confident with the puck in his zone. He earned himself another game to get off the shnied.
*Benoit and Morgan standing up for teammates. :thumbu: The team is starting to get it!

And please, Berube, when Matthews comes back, for the love of god don't play him with Marner. JT, McMann and MM are developing some seriously good chemistry.

Knies Matthews Domi
McMann JT MM
Patches Minten Nylander
Pick your players (outside of Reaves) for your 4th...Lorentz for sure as one of them.

Have a good night, I'm back to sleep.

Let's face it. We had no business winning this game with 7 regular forwards out. Crazy. Amazing what a defense first attitude does to a team with everyone buying in. Great to see. Fantastic win boys. These character wins against all odds are ones we lost on a regular basis in the past.

Our D and G are very good.

Which is why we shouldn't make 1 game conclusions. Just going game by game. Minten was fine in this one but I thought Greb seemed lost and was probably our worst forward today.

Another hard fought, well deserved victory with a depleted lineup. The score was closer than it should have been thanks to a few posts.

Woll was very solid again when he needed to be and the callups filled in admirably. Alex Nylander had the jitters a few times (understandably so) but almost potted one tonight.

I usually keep a word file open when I have to stream a game...

And the f*** is that? One game and it's blacked out in my region? The NFL and NBA would never stand for that.

I'll never understand the blackouts. This is a league almost completely dependent on gate revenue and desperate to grow their TV income. If I was running the NHL. every single TV deal negotiation would lead off with no blackouts no matter what. There's no downside, everyone wins. The networks don't lose money they wouldn't have received in the first place and the game grows benefitting everyone (league, players and networks). What am I missing here?

After a shaky first, the score flattered the Jazz, err HC.

5 posts for us and numerous other dangerous looking chances.

PP buzzing with little result, but got the one that mattered.

Solid defensive effort all around. Woll steady.

Too many turnovers for my liking but they went unused by Utah.

It sure is nice to have some high end depth.

I'd like to think of it as PromisedLand missed the 1st

And then turned on the TV in the 2nd and just right after Marner scored the Leafs 1st goal ;)
