I agree.

First of all Reeves can’t go after Marchand. He’s a light weight but a guy like Domi can. All you need is to have the big dog on the bench. I know a lot of young guys don’t like it and you may not need him come playoff time unless it’s garbage time but you need him.

It’s a waste of a roster spot IMHO.
So the logic is Reaves can deter only bigger goon like players and not Marchand?
What’s the use then of having him yap from the bench and then do a bear hug dance?
I’ve been around a long time. I watched all those era’s.
With the cap and how Berube wants his 4 lines to be aggressive you just cant afford to dress a player who is basically an old guard dog that has no bite and can’t move.

He hurts the team more on the ice than he helps.

Concerning Domi…he isn’t his father and he may be “tough” which is a good trait…he got paid to also put points up and as of right now…we are still waiting for his first goal since April

However knowing he is bent over a bit and not looking, knowing you are going to hit is head and blow him up is a predatory chicken shit move.
This is not the intent of body contact.
I love a good hit as well as the next guy but that POS on Vegas absolutely knew he was going to injure a player
What should he have done? Let Knies skate through? That would be a chicken crap play.

I’m all for adding someone that has grit and can actually play the NHL game. We have all witnessed that Reaves isn’t that guy. It was a bad signing from the start IMHO. We need our bottom six to be better.
Reaves offfers ONE skill and in todays games it more of a joke then a must have on a team IMHO
Knies and Grebenkin are just what they need.

Hopefully Knies doesn’t have a fractured (collarbone or sternum) and is back on Sunday.

It’s not like Canadian teams haven’t had success though

Flames
Oilers x 2
Sens
Habs
Canucks

All been to the finals and most of those were game 7’s. All it took was one team to win and that streak is broken. It was extremely close
Don't forget the countless media talking heads over the last decade who predicted the Jets to be a finalist or Cup winner.
If the league already reviewed it and didn't think it was a penalty, how could they now turn around and say it's worthy of discipline?
Has this ever happened before?
There have been times when the league imposed discipline when no penalty was called.
Nobody says Reaves needs to be in the playoff lineup. During the regular season however it might be helpful to have an enforcer in the lineup if he deters (not eliminates, as that's impossible, but deters) these kind of cheapshots to our stars.
Maybe for like 20-30 games. He shouldn't be playing 60.

I hope the kids get a chance. It was a great showing last night and we should be excited about some of our young kids.
Knies has to be smarter in congested areas. It seemed like he saw the player coming.
But IMHO it was a bad hit. The intent was there to injure and put him thru the boards.

He shouldn’t have jumped into the hit and left his feet
And he didn’t. His feet were on the ice when he hit him and 230 lb man drove him back on contact. Exactly how they’re taught to hit and why there was no penalty.

Living in reality, what was he supposed to do? Trip him? Knee him? Let him go?

Get a big dog that isn’t almost 40 maybe

The intent was to hit him as had as he could within the rules. That’s why I love the sport that’s why I watch.

Early returns, but I think Grebenkin is what everyone wants Robertson to be. Spoiler, he is not, and never will be. Don't know if it was adrenaline, but Grebenkin can play on this team now imo. Yes, it's one game but this guy is strong and spicy!

...

What a great third period. Wow! Memories of Burns and Quinn teams floating in my head. That was unreal. So impressive start to finish.

...

Perhaps people underestimated how Grebenkin played in the KHL.
I think this is who Grebenkin is, although NHL grind will be more than the KHL.
However, he is also physically maturing and at 21, we could expect more man strength.

I was thinking Quinn while watching, and I'm sure he'd have a smile with his cigar after this one.

What’s the lineup look like when we’re healthy I don’t think we need a 3c maybe we can ship Jarnkrok and a couple other spare parts and get another right shot Defenceman we gotta go for it an Adam larsson or something cause I don’t believe hakinpaa is Riellys partner he might be oels on the bottom pair maybe
Benoit had quite the resurgent game too imo. He definitely didn't like being sat for two games and played like it.

As we sit here today in first in our division, for the first time in years, let's remember this when we lose 2 in a row, win 1 in 4, blow a lead, lose to a shit team....because it's going to happen, guaranf***ingteed. Anyone care about the Columbus game in October now? It's a long season, we got ourselves a great squad imo and we're in the mix. Please don't "tear it down" after a couple losses again lol.

Benoit went after him at that moment and then later OEL trashed a guy and threw him awkwardly into the end boards, followed up by JT slamming his player into the ice. That’s not fiction, they showed guts up and down the lineup.

Don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but they reminded me of those teams from Florida.

Hopefully this year is different, but I do remember this same conversation last season, and it really didn’t matter.

I’ve been suckered in before by this team, I refuse to get too excited 😂

It matters if we're playing a guy in the place of someone else that can contribute those 5 goals from a 4RW and perhaps could offer something in the playoffs. The only way it wouldn't matter is if he was a deterrent and actually did the job he was originally signed for. But it's already been established he doesn't contribute anything to the team, including preventing opponents taking cheap shots at our players. He's too old and slow to be of any use.

The team played one of the grittiest, toughest games we've seen from these guys in a long time, if ever in the Matthews era. The reason for that is that the toughness didn't come from one or two guys, it came from everyone. Heck, even Tavares tackled a player to the ice during a scrum. It's nice to see that they have each other's backs. Benoit jumped in to show that you're not going to get away with that kind of it without some form of retribution. What more would Reaves have done?

Reaves is NOT a good player anymore.
Sure he is.

Doing what? We criticize others for less. The guy has a circle radius of a semi. He can skate in a straight line but has no agility. He can’t shoot or receive a pass.

He is old and slow and a defensive liability and has to be sheltered.

I’m still trying to find something he is good at? Fighting? ok sure…pay a guy millions to fight five times a year?
He would be better off asking Jake Paul for a match :)
He won he coach's confidence.

He could have stopped Knies without driving up through his head.
Players get stopped, slowed down and seperated from the puck all the time without headshots like that, but hey let’s let meatheads like that run wild injuring all the skill guys.

Parros: First contact was clearly on his big toe. Totally legal hit.
Parros is a meathead
